  1. Can anyone onsite confirm fireworks times for Magic Kingdom for July 4th? When you call the information line, it says no fireworks are scheduled for July 4th on the automated system. Thanks for the help.
  2. This is a wonderful solution = something bigger that my autistic child will NOT want attached to him or anything he is wearing. I'll keep my money and continue to wear two magic bands. For my money, I wish they would come up with a consistent policy for those with disabilities that don't want to have their finger scanned...oops, my teen says my inner cynic is showing.
  3. Looks delicious - my dinner tonight has just lost all its appeal....
  4. I have used gift cards to pay reservations and annual passes. Have never tried to put an "advance" on the room to cover charges, but I have been able to leave the remainder of a gift card on the room account that was used to pay for stuff before my card was charged. Also, I believe the credit card is only billed at the beginning of the stay (for the balance of the reservation) and then is billed as you reach the limit on the reservation. This leaves the option to stop in and pay with the gift card at anytime during the stay.
  5. Most cab companies will give you a stop on the way in for groceries and in August the refrigerator is a great idea. We have never really relied on the Meadows for groceries beyond odds and ends because it gets pricey and the selection is limited. We tried using a cooler one summer, but it would have been cheaper to buy the refrigerator than what we spent on ice.
  6. Thanks for the kind words. As long as we have hope, anything can happen.
  7. This is perfect for my cooking style. Not many ingredients and no "judgment" calls to be made. Thanks.
  8. On our last trip to Disney with my dad (we lost him shortly after), we were in the world showcase for dinner. I turned around looking for my kids and they were gone, as were my nieces. Mom explained that Grandpop decided that they absolutely needed to try eclairs from the French bakery BEFORE spoiling their appetites with dinner. Since that day, it is a must stop for my son and we have always enjoyed the freshness of the offerings, so I would tend to believe that they bake daily. Let's face it - eclairs have a short shelf life.....
  9. I am embarrassed by the behavior in my hometown. Please stay safe and I will be praying for you and your son.
  10. My autistic son is a YouTube fanatic and has no concept that there must be an actual "connection" before it works. To be be safe, we put together a kit for the camper similar to the one provided by Disney plus a wireless router. We have used it on several trips without any problems - most recently in the fall of 2014.
  11. I am partial to the Midori Colada at Crockett's Tavern. Delicious and refreshing while waiting for the Giddyup and Go meal!
  12. Love the Matterhorn, but I am always in favor of another theatre....dancers gotta work too.
  13. My youngest son is on the severe end of the autism spectrum and although he has received service since very young and is a student in a Kennedy Krieger school he is is still non-verbal. As Autism Awareness month draws to a close I find myself reflecting on my relationship with Benjamin. He is at times a terror and at times an angel. He exhausts me and fills me with energy all in the same one hour period. I would so love to know what he is thinking. When he bangs his head he breaks my heart and when he giggles he melts it. He fills me with pain and agony, joy and hope, confusion and clarity. H
  14. I am very sad....thanks for the responses.
  15. Just got off the phone with WDW Reservations and was told that in order to get a AAA discount I had to make my reservation with AAA. Is this a new policy? Has anyone booked with AAA before? I was wondering if their were fees charged by AAA for booking with them. I have only ever made my own reservations and am frankly, disappointed by this new development....
  16. It was 26 degrees here last night and I am appalled that I am envying folks trying to avoid mosquitos. I am actually anxiously awaiting the first little blood sucker of the season.....
  17. These sound delicious and a great solution for everyone wanting something different
  18. When my boys were little we traveled to WDW infrequently and stayed on the monorail. As they grew older and voiced opinions about how much they loved going, we tried the Fort - best decision we ever made. Now, for us our golf cart replaces the monorail rides that we would jump on just to "do" something. No, it is not a necessity, but it sure is a lot of FUN.
  19. Looks very professional - can't believe you are faking.
  20. My son loved the pirate adventure, too. He didn't eat any of the snack/lunch provided, so I don't think it would be too hard for him to avoid the pbj. We were considering sending his little brother at the time and they were willing to make some accommodations for his food allergies, so it can't hurt to ask.
  21. We had similar concerns with my youngest son who is autistic - more of a trusting he will stay seated then that he would be afraid, but his father found that he could actually touch his shoulders from behind - so although not seated side by side, the little guy was still aware of his close proximity.
  22. We had a ball exploring the AKL - would love to go for the animal feeding at some point - we heard it was pretty neat.
  23. We have done the Wild Africa Trek and loved it. Definitely worth what we paid (for us).
  24. My rule for carrying food into the park is that it must fit in the pockets of the boys' cargo shorts. If it doesn't fit, it doesn't go. My 15 year old always asks what will happen if his pants fall down at the gate because I put so much stuff in his pockets. This concern did not stop him from once shoving a small can of pringles into his pocket. I carry a parachute weight backpack in my pocket and once past the search, the bag comes out and the pockets get emptied. This mostly limits us to nuts, fruit snacks, and granola bars, but that usually gets us through until we return to the campsite
