  1. Same here. For whatever reason, regular Genny wasn't looked down upon as badly as the Cream Ale was. Probably because all of our Dads drank it and we didn't want to be disrespectful! yeah, right……. Never heard of farts being referred to as "units". Funny!
  2. hmm yes that could be a problem. He has had to have some meetings while we've been on vacation before. Whenever he sits outside in the evenings with his iPad, it is a bug magnet! Might have to look into some kind of screen room, I was thinking about that anyway.
  3. Yes I saw they have it now. But, I just bought a new phone earlier this year so will hang on to it for a while. They all have their plusses and minuses, I have used both services. The good thing is my husband was able to add a hotspot to his phone because he has a new job and is traveling a lot more. So, no more clunky FW ethernet box for us!
  4. Yes, FWG is right. It can get hairy. But so can 295 in both directions, so it's kind of a "pick your poison" situation. Besides, no matter which way you decide to go through Jacksonville, it really doesn't take that long in the end. We don't have the traffic that places like Atlanta do. Gwen, if you don't like suspension bridges then you definitely want to avoid 295 east. I commuted over the Dames Point for 10 years and never got used to it. It's white-knuckle when it's windy. If you go 295 west, you have to cross the Buckman, which isn't high, but it's 3 miles across. Staying on 95 yo
  5. Yummy Pictures!! This one is my favorite: I thought the same thing when I saw that fence. What will all those guys I always see fishing back there do now? I know it's not out in the open or whatever but it's still an ugly looking fence.
  6. Haha. Touche. But I wasn't dissing you for the parking! I think there should be a special parking spot back in the Settlement area just for TCD! And pool hopping is much worse than taking up one measly parking spot. Never have been proud of doing it, but at least I own it. And I doubt we will do it again. We're staying at one of the non-WDW resorts that is on WDW property for our next visit. It's got a lazy river!
  7. Wow! A full day, and full bellies too I'll bet. Another great report! I love the background in the sausage photo. Epcot has such great photo ops, especially at dusk. I'd wondered where you parked back at the beginning when you said you went to a park from the WL. I should think with all the times you visit and money you drop there, you should at least get a parking pass!
  8. G - the place I am talking about is not convenient to the interstate, but there is one in St. Augustine off of US1. Broudy's liquors. I have seen a lot of different beers popping up in our Publix stores too. Never really looked into what they were or if they're local, but may be worth stopping at a FL Publix before you park the RV. MD - have you found any good varieties at your Publix stores?
  9. Yes, Genny Cream Ale is the same as screamers. At least in my part if NY state it was. I would have actually sat down and listened to Supertramp. Take the Long Way Home is on my ipod. That was their other hit. So I guess they were a 2 hit wonder. Your cassette comment made me chuckle. At least you didn't say 8 track. And what kind of car was this player in? A Datsun maybe? Remember those?
  10. This actually reminds me of our trips up North during the summer months. The GPS systems and online trip planners always tell us to go around Richmond. I've never understood that. We've never done it, but wonder if it isn't as out of the way as it looks on the maps.
  11. TJ is correct. Although, 95 can be difficult at certain times of the day, or if there is a wreck. Had an appointment over near Baymeadows the other day and got hung up a little. There is work going on but plenty of lanes are open. It seems like the temporary lines and orange barrels are kind of perpetual, they never really go away……..295 is actually worse right now where they appear to be putting in a new exit ramp just before Blanding Blvd. No shoulder in places. I'd be more concerned with I-4, if you are headed to the fort. It's a crapshoot.
  12. Oh my. Laughing so hard! I had wanted to say earlier that I should try and find some Magic Woody for my husband, but was afraid of what might ensue. But honestly it is because he shares your love of beer and Magic Hat. But you were braver than I, and went there……bravo. I do like fruity beer. The fruitier, the better.
  13. Nope, just had a lot of rich friends from LI. I was dirt poor! Could barely afford the 5 cent draft nights at one of the dives we hung out in! Yes, we got nickel drafts, but before you go dating me, they were tiny little 8 or 9 oz. plastic cups full of warm Old Milwaukee. I shudder just thinking about what they tasted like! Those Bradors were potent. But I think that was part of the appeal then. I remember after the first one I had, thinking no big deal I have drank a beer before, then trying to stand up and being dizzy.
  14. So glad to hear the keys were found. Love happy endings! (yes that is bait for Stef) MD - Magic Woody? so many comments come to mind. But I'll be on the lookout for that! Do you guys have any Broudy's on the gulf coast? They have a really good selection of craft beers.
  15. This is such a great TR, considering it is just day trips! You are the master of "Disney in a day"! I love the parades. But I am the only one in my party who does. So I often end up watching them by myself. I have more parade pictures than I care to admit. So many things made me laugh. The comment on the weeds. The samurai beer tap. Showing your thespian side in that Belle gig. And I suspect you withheld your assessment of the fully sleeved couple who could not wait their turn to take the picture in front of the ball. Probably what made me laugh the most is that the last time we went t
  16. When we were there last summer all they had was a stand that was only open on weekends, they sold slushies, burgers and hot dogs, and individual packaged ice cream treats. I agree that their rates are steep. But I found everything in that whole area of MD to be pricey. Still beautiful country though. Yes. They're outrageous. And the staff is not friendly or helpful. I think I asked about AAA or Good Sam and was denied due to blackout dates or some nonsense.
  17. Just wanted to say welcome, and third the KOA thumbs up! We live in Jacksonville, and stayed there for a weekend once to go to the crawfish festival in Kingsland. We weren't there much, but it suited us fine and my kids enjoyed the pool. Hosts are super nice and made breakfast one morning for everyone. I would add to watch for ant piles and make sure you bring bug spray, it is GA and in the woods.
  18. Jeff I just wanted to compliment your demeanor here as well as in earlier posts on this God awful thread. Kudos for being kind. And, you are right when you say this board isn't for everyone. I certainly don't have thick enough skin for it and wish I had never gotten involved in this. I just had this strong sense that this person didn't mean any harm. Can't explain it. But I did, and now here I am still contributing and dragging it out. Oy.
  19. It is too bad this got so blown out of proportion. While I did see what many of the posters were suspecting, I still don't think it was fair to make assumptions about your intents or the reason you joined. Only you know that. I feel very badly about some of the harsh comments that were made. I haven't been around long enough to have seen what some of the regulars here have witnessed as far as "trolls", "spies", or others who seem to enjoy stirring things up or causing problems for businesses. So when I read your post I just thought you had experienced something negative and were throwing
  20. You are cracking me up. But aren't you one of the people who exercises on vacation?
  21. Brilliant title. I am a big P&F fan. Adorable kids! We rode Amtrak for the first time this past summer. LOVED it! Just for a few hours, but I would definitely do it again. We had done fun steam train rides and subways in other cities so I wasn't sure what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised.
  22. Going back a couple of posts, I would add to your list of inconsiderate folks the ones who put their children on their shoulders during parades, fireworks, shows, etc. I know you mentioned one of them here, the dude with the dirty diaper baby in your face. And, call me old-fashioned, but I try to teach my boys to offer their seat on the bus to any ladies who might get stuck in the aisle. Particularly young children, pregnant ladies, and older ones. I hardly ever see anyone do that any more. ALL of your photos are fantastic! I really enjoyed the ones you took from the train station. The sl
  23. First of all, welcome! I found this site when searching for GC companies, too! I have rented from Kenny quite a few times and have had great experiences each time. Last time, our battery died and he had a new cart on our site within an hour. And it turned out that it was my fault it died - I hadn't been connecting it properly at night - but he didn't question me or charge me anything. Speaking of charging, his rates are much lower than the Fort cart rentals, and his carts come with rain covers (not sure on the 6 person, but the 4 person ones do).
  24. It sure is. Great reminder. You all have way more experience with this stuff and your intuition is good. I understand and definitely see what you and everyone else is saying. And, when this thread was only 3 or 4 posts long, didn't know this had happened before. But you all picked up on it right away. Good points, great advice. And if the OP is a competitor trying to hurt Kenny's business, he will show his colors eventually. His reputation is too good and cannot be ruined by one dishonest person. Exactly! And thank you for correcting me, didn't realize that.
