Yep. This is why we aren't at the fort this weekend. One downside to the pop up is the soft walls get a little chilly in the middle of the night when it goes below 50. It would be amazing weather for food and wine festival though.

Lou, thats exactly right. Well, now you are going in informed. If you don't get a magical upgrade, you can at least request one of these el cheapo rooms with a fireworks view. If you do get an upgrade, then that's great too :). Either way, you're all set!

That furniture shopping is awesome. How fun!!! Love the "lodgey" kind of stuff. That coffee table is a great find! And that Jessica Rabbit costume, we won't show that to mrofbears. Hes had a little crush on Ms. Rabbit since he was a kid. Now that I think about it, that may be a good halloween costume idea for me one day.

I am currently drafting a letter of my own: Dear Fort Wilderness Rangers, Due to the new "seasonal lights out policy" I would now like to enforce a rule of my own. We'll call it the "if you don't get rid of the flood lights at the comfort station that shine right into my face while I'm sleeping specifically in the site right next to the bathroom in the 2000 loop I am going to unscrew them all myself" policy. PS: Keep up the good work :)

We almost came up this weekend but that cold snap coming through on Saturday is going to be a bit too cold for baby in the pop up in the middle of the night. Otherwise, what gorgeous weather you all are going to have!! Absolutely perfect if you like clear blue skies and crisp fall air :). Enjoy!!

Something to add here. We just stayed at the lodge for my birthday, and while we didnt get any upgrades or pixie dust, I will say our standard room had a horrible view...until the fireworks started!! We laughed the rest of the weekend bc those rooms should be labeled "fireworks view". I've never had such a good show. We were in the rooms obviously on MK side, but specifically we could see the smokehouse, where they do their BBQ, and a parking lot. Not much to look at during the day, but so fun at night!

I've been enjoying the new era. And I think back to how you said you bought your pop up when the girls were little. Time flies I'm sure!

I've used my umbrella there every time and the cast members always tell me what a great idea it is. I'm happy to see they are doing this. I always feel guilty standing there all shady and cool while everyone else bakes. Last time they were handing out water which was really nice. Standing on that bridge really is like stepping onto the surface of the sun. I don't know what it is, but definitely the hottest point of the park.

Ideal time to check in: there really isn't, it's kind of luck. We've gotten there right at 11 and gotten a rotten site and we've gotten there at 10pm and gotten the best site. There are plenty of places to throw the ball. Down by the beach next to the park, by the meadows pool over by the volleyball court. I saw a guy using a giant smoker on his site yesterday. Smelled up the whole campground. I don't think anyone minded. Have fun!

Okay. Going there tonight I think. So what do I put grand marnier on? What do we think the best combination is here?

Or Sanaa at animal lodge. That feels fancy but you can do the bread service and tandoori and its not too pricey.

Kouzzina at boardwalk. It's great and romantic. You can even get away with just an appetizer and splitting the sampler meal. That's what we do and it's a cheap date :)

This is great!! I would die. So fun. Do you want to stay in the same site though? I'm sure that they could let you extend the reservation if you play with the dates enough. I'm resisting the urge to start checking for dates on your behalf. That way you wouldn't have to move. (Unless you are going for the lower rate which I totally understand)
