  1. My mistake should have said state and local not just local.
  2. Thanks for the reply. Not living there or even traveling that way regularly, I don’t generally pay attention to the local government workings.
  3. Avoiding the morning commute is wise if you are able to do that. DH always does that. When we lived in MD he would go into work later and leave from work later. It worked for us too because at the time I was working too and our son was in daycare. He took our son to daycare and I picked him up.
  4. So why are there so many fatalities? Is it the roads themselves (construction, narrow, etc) or just the volume of traffic on it each day? I don’t typically travel on it. So curious is all.
  5. So part of what makes Fort Fiends so special to me is the Grand Gatherings both those at the Fort and those away from the Fort. I just posted a Fall Grand Gathering that will be happening in September. Check out the Grand Gathering thread for information on the Stone Mountain GG September 10-12. https://www.fortfiends.net/topic/21711-stone-mountain-park-campground-september-10-12-2021/
  6. I know for myself that when I first joined Fort Fiends I was a SAHM. My children were between the ages of 8-14. I had more time after they went to bed to post and comment. As they got older and as I started working part time my time became more limited. I also agree with Carol about the ease of posting pictures for Trip Reports is gone. Sadly, I don’t have a solution for that. My thought is this rather than focus on the past, why not continue to just post when we feel called. When I need prayers or positive thoughts I know I can turn to Fort Fiends. If I need advice on places to eat either
  7. Nope I know lots of people who don’t use social media. The page is set up to draw people here not to get folks from here over to Facebook. I was just thinking of the algorithms. If those of us who are on Facebook already like and comment on the posts then it gets more of a presence.
  8. There is already a page on Facebook for Fort Fiends. If you have not already liked the page here is the link. https://m.facebook.com/fortfiends/ Also, it is imperative that we “like” the posts and comment on them. I have been slacking in this area.
  9. When I joined Fort Fiends my girls were still in elementary school. My son was just starting high school. They are all grown now. It’s difficult even trying to plan a weekend away sometimes where we can all go. Like I mentioned in the Defeated Creek GG thread. Our lives are moving in different directions. I was thinking the other day about it and I was thinking it is like a neighborhood. When my family moved in to our neighborhood it was brand new. Like just a few streets done and most of us had small children. You would constantly see children playing and lots of neighborhood planned act
  10. I recently took a trip with my daughter where we would be looking at some out of state colleges that she is interested in attending. Knowing that we would be traveling on toll roads, bridges (Chesapeake Bay) and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel I wanted to go ahead and purchase a pass. The EPass is now the Uni Pass. I purchased mine on Amazon simply because I could get it in the quickest amount of time. I was nervous at first that I didn’t have it placed right in the car. Until I got to the Bay Bridge Tunnel all tolls were non manned. When I checked the App I was not seeing my account decrease
  11. I introduced my daughter Rachel to Wawa on the above college visit tour that I mentioned. One of the colleges she is looking at is Salisbury University in Maryland. It is actually where I got my Bachelors Degree.
  12. Carol (Mouseketab) and I stopped at the one in Macon on the way to WWW2021 in January. My daughter and I stopped by the one in Leeds, AL on our way home from our out of state college campus visits. It was packed. Of course we are smack dab in the middle of spring break season here. So many breaks were either at the end or beginning depending on where you live.
  13. In the last 10 years I have made some of my closest friends thanks to discovering Fort Fields one day while just browsing on my computer. I look forward to many GGs especially the WWWs in the future.
  14. I need to start working on my backpack camping skills.
  15. Thankful you didn’t have to find out the answer to that question.
  16. I’m in. I am sorry to hear about the problems with your hand. I will keep you in my prayers.
  17. So Gwen I saw on one of the Facebook groups you had mentioned more Fort time and less park time this trip. I know that is a huge change for you. Before you had mentioned going to the parks every day for a little bit. Positives and negatives you observed for this trip in light of your typical Disney travel?
  18. Coming from AL I always take the WV route you mentioned above when traveling to visit family in MD.
  19. Welcome to Fort Fiends! Glad this discount can help you out.
  20. Thanks for writing tge this report and sharing your pictures. I wasn’t sure if you were still able to visit the other resorts or not. I am glad to see that you can.
  21. I’m hoping these photo previews mean we are going to get a new TCD trip report next week.
  22. That is how we were taught to teach back in the late 80s early 90s. I remember the emphasis was on writing. Just get the students to write. Don’t correct spelling or punctuation. Granted this was only to be used for journaling type work. I was also taught the whole word approach when learning how to teach reading. I did not learn about teaching phonemic sounds until my son was diagnosed with dyslexia.
  23. It was a perfect weekend. Just what I needed to recharge.
