  1. This report and Dave's are both making me really hate that fact we had to cancel our fall trip to the Smokies. We may try to get up that way over the Christmas break.
  2. Glad you decided to go ahead and share your adventures with us Rudy.
  3. Awwww Hey speaking of cute faces. Don't you have some of those cute girls of yours to post?
  4. You have the most adorable models for your pictures. Looking forward to more of your report.
  5. I love the Fort Fiends promotional sign!
  6. Following our mine tour, the guide told us we were welcome to visit the grounds and go to the top of the mine if we wanted to. Sure no problem. After all we are in Nebraska and Nebraska is flat. :rofl3: :rofl2: Before we did that though we took some pictures at the front of the mine. We had a choice of going up one side of the hill which had a path more like a nature path you would find if you were hiking out in the woods or the other side which had steps. So, which way did we go? Let’s just say I realized how out of shape I was in. Thank goodness I remembered to take a bottle of water. We
  7. So, you seem to understand how my family was feeling when I coerced blackmailed suggested we go. :rofl2: Actually the chalk itself is what was used in paint. They would get it from the mine and then ship it to Omaha. Steve did admit that it was a cool place to see. Though he doesn't want to drive two hours again there and back to go again. That's ok...I have other places on my to do list for the next time we are there. :clint: Oh it was! The minute my family felt that cold air they changed their minds quickly about the tour. Tanking is on our my must do list for us the next time w
  8. Wow! I really let this go. I doubt you really want to spend the fall in Nebraska so, I should probably get back to work on this. The next day was Friday July 6th. I had a couple options of things I wanted us to do that day. One was to go tanking on the river. Steve’s brother and his wife have gone before and they have told us how much fun it is. We found out that you really need to plan for this adventure though. So, last minute tanking trip was out of the question. What the heck is tanking? http://youtu.be/kJAExDJV8iU My second choice was to go to a mine. Did you know they have a mine
  9. Steve still has that poster. He brought it back here when we were getting things from the farm in Nebraska. Right now it is on a wall in my son's room.
  10. I love the pictures of AoA and part of me would love to stay there at least once. Though I think my husband would agree with Gwen and say sensory overload.
  11. Glad you found the keys. Loved the picture of Tony laughing hysterically while Trevor did his modeling walk. It is so good to see fiends having so much fun together.
  12. Continuing to follow along. I must admit I did get a bit worried when you mentioned potty break and then the next thing I saw were pictures of flowers and trees. Thankfully you just took those on the way to or after the break. Right??
  13. Your comments about AKL and it being a zoo made me :rofl2: My children all told me the same thing. They could care less about going there. The only thing they really like to do there is ride Expedition Everest and only if it is dark outside. The darkness adds and an extra element of excitement/fear to it. I on the other hand did enjoy the park and really want to go back again just to walk around and observe the animals. Yes. I am one of those mean moms who drag my families to zoos whenever I can. :rofl3:
  14. Loved that Annie apologized to her piggy before she ate! Thank you for all you and your family do to support cancer research and awareness. Most especially thank you for shaving your head for St. Baldricks in support of childhood cancer. I know many children who have been helped by your generosity.
  15. If that is the case I would like to again recommend Smoky Bear Campground in Gatlinburg, TN. You are close enough to drive into town if you want to, but far enough away to avoid it if that is what you want. Check out Starbuc's non-fort 4th of July trip report here: http://www.fortfiends.net/forum/topic/2985-starbucs-non-fort-4th-of-july-tennessee-vacation/page__hl__+smoky%20+bear#entry67222
  16. I too am doing my part to help you get to the 10,000 views. Your trip report literally has me :rofl3: :rofl2:. I didn't know there was a gym over at the Lodge and that we could use it when we stayed at FW. Something like this will be very useful to know for any future trips. Not for me mind you but for dh and ds. Those crazy boys like to workout when they are on vacations.
  17. Wow! That was a quick drive. I need to travel with you more often.
  18. Finally found a moment to read and reply. I love that you get to take day trips. TCD day trips to Disney World mean more trip reports for us to read. :heartsmiley: :jumpforjoy But, I do have one question...... What ever happened to your 13th FFTR? Last year you went from your 12th FFTR (Halloween) to your 14th FFTR (Thanksgiving). Yeah hubby doesn't like that I have such a good memory either. :rofl3: :rofl2:
  19. Another Stef TR! :jumpforjoy :jumpforjoy :jumpforjoy :jumpforjoy
  20. We really like going to Gatlinburg, TN. Our favorite place to camp there is Smoky Bear Campground.
