  1. I figured I would relate our experiences of two new attractions that recently opened up at WDW. The first being the Pirates Adventure. We visited the MK with the sole purpose of trying out this new experience. You start your adventure in Adventureland in a tiny shack near POTC. When you enter, there are consoles lined up along one wall. You receive a talisman and are assigned a console to begin your adventure. You can also use your KTTW card if you have an RFID enabled one, such as an AP, and will soon be able to use the magic bands. I prefer the talisman as it adds to the expe
  2. I am not refuting the inaccuracy of some wait times. And your theory is a good one. But, loaded attraction or not, the doors close with park close. Not a second sooner. And A leader must make the call to close the doors, not some pimply faced CP working the front of the line. Then, even after the attraction is closed, those CMs still have an hours worth of work to do that cant be done with guests in the attraction. So closing early does nothing for them. As far as deviating from your schedule, you must notify a coordinator or leader if you leave your assigned position for any reason. So say
  3. Water parks and mini golf courses closed, Disney Quest at Phase 4 as of 1230, Mickey's BBQ cancelled for tonight, no marina boat rentals. Sea World and Busch Gardens are closing early today as well. No plans for Disney to adjust hours.
  4. Yep. Not in the path of the storm, but on the wet side of it. So lots of rain and thunderstorms spawned from it, but no direct hit.
  5. Wait times: They are not a min for min account. Meaning, if a card takes 10 mins to make the trip, it is not an automatic 10 min wait time. It is averaged across a few reads. So if one card takes 30 mins and another takes 5, it may average out to a 15 min wait, when it could actually be a 5 min. Next, Disney tracks everything. Every hour on the hour a report is sent out to all leaders, execs, and coordinators (managers and assistant managers) that detail everything that happened that hour. By everything I mean, everything. How many people rode each ride and the posted wait times for that
  6. Tornado warnings right now and LOTS of rain. No wind or scary weather. just wet. Its supposed to get bad later today and then clear up by the weekend.
  7. Thanks for that Andrew. I did miss it amongst the 2000 recipes. That's is correct, it is on top of the train. I knew it would be easy, but liked the chair and had to share.
  8. Couple of comments. Not gonna try the multi quote because its been acting weird. The facades for Star Tours area are intentional. It is Hollywood Studios. A glimpse behind how movies are made. That's why the area is designed the way it is. Disney is not intentionally manipulating the wait times. Those times are automatically set by an electronic computer system. You know those little red cards you get from time to time? Those read your start time and the time you reach the front of the line and automatically change the signs and the apps. The tip boards then get a message to change the boa
  9. Yall can bicker about the chipmunks. The Asian guy is Lee. Yes, we know him. He is what we call a character stalker. The things handed to the chipmunks were pictures of them from Tokyo Disneyland of them in Kimonos. He also had some for the other characters that same weekend. He is not alone though, he does travel with a few others. They have been here for a few months and come all of the time. Chip and Dale are big in Japan and sometimes trumps the mouse himself in popularity.
  10. There is no real advantage in my opinion. You save the taxes. unless they get you the Military salute tickets, which are the best deal out there for any Disney ticket option. 4 days for $156 with hopper option, but that ends Sept 28th and has black outs you should check before purchasing them. The military member does have to activate them at Disney prior to use. The stars and stripes tickets are discounted, but expire 1 day after the final use from day of purchase, example: You buy a 5 day ticket, the tickets all expire 6 days from day of purchase and can only be bought if the military memb
  11. This price increase is nothing. The largest increase was on the one day MK ticket, at $6. Everything else increased by $1 to $3. In my opinion, if that $1 makes the difference between you having a great family vacation or sitting at home for the summer, you probably should not be vacationing in the most expensive area in the US. And for comparison, a one day single park ticket at Universal is $92. $3 less than a MK one day, but $2 more than a ticket to any of the other 3 parks.
  12. I can report with 100% certainty that Sprint 4G is not available at the Fort. I fact, of all the carriers, Sprint has the worst service at WDW. It is slow, has trouble connecting, and if you use allot of data, be sure you have a Wifi connection because it is slow. So tethering your phone would not be a good idea either.
  13. Bell was running all night. In fact, that's where I had breakfast at around 3am. We had pancakes, eggs, French toast, bacon, sausage, and OJ. We were graced with Capt Jacks company as well. So I had breakfast with Jack Sparrow, Belle, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, and Eeyor.
  14. Yes, not all of them are real doors, but you can see there is a door, its just opened.
  15. There are two Haunted Mansion and Two BTMR. But the Speedway door is the roll up door at the beginning of the queue line. All though its wider in real life, it does look like the one pictured above. You can see it to the right of this picture They just removed the wording to make it more difficult.
  16. I assume that was you guys who yelled at me over at the Thoughtful spot. The lights shine right in our eyes and its hard to see out that far. Sorry I couldn't properly say hi. I was helping a guest with something when you got my attention.
  17. Barnes is cooperating with investigators and has indicated this is an isolated incident with unanticipated impacts,” the news release said. Read more: http://ktla.com/2013/05/29/toontown-evacuated-after-explosion-at-disneyland/#ixzz2UiI22Uy7 The above qoute tells me he didn't know it would be that loud and that people would react like they did.
  18. It was an employee. Outdoor vendor. They use dry ice in those carts to keep things cool. They probably did it not knowing the results would be as bad as they were.
  19. Sounds like a conversation I had not long ago with a fellow fiend.
  20. It was far from an EXPLOSION. It was a dry ice bomb. It was dry ice placed in a soda bottle with a little water and sealed shut. The pressure builds up in the bottle and pops when it can't handle any more. There is no fire or explosion involved, just a loud bang. When I worked in a cryogenics plant making liquid oxygen and liquid nitrogen we would make these all of the time and some would pop in our hands. Aside from scaring the heck out of us, there was no danger of injury.
  21. Depends on my schedule. If I open the MK the next morning, Im in bed earlier than that. 5am comes quick and you don't want to be tired standing in 90 dg weather dealing with some of these guests. Other nights I am not even home and have to listen to Lou's favorite parade from inside the MK. Funny story though, we hear these sounds all day everyday. We don't really think too much about it now as its a part of our life. We can tell the time by whats going on around us. But when we were in DL, we could have sworn we still heard the sounds of the boats and water parade. It was weird. they are so
