Leaked River Country DVC Plans
devores replied to Tri-Circle-D's topic in Disney and Fort Construction
One thing I have not heard anyone mention is the fear that this new resort will take away the best place at the fort. The DVC is taking over the settlement area of the fort. And there's a good chance it will become part of it. That means the fort could loose part of, if not all of the beach, pioneer hall, and the outpost. At best, fort residents still have access to the area but with increased crowds. The fort would not be allowed in the DVC resort but they would be allowed in the fort area. I do love how the resort is so close to the amenities of the fort yet they have thier own amenities. C -

Leaked River Country DVC Plans
devores replied to Tri-Circle-D's topic in Disney and Fort Construction
Not a true line up, but I overlayed the plans onto a sattalie image of the area. I used Pioneer Hall as a reference as it is assumed it wont be moving. You can get an idea of how this would look if it ever happens. Also, it does appear the bus stop will take out two of the spots in the 700. Hilda will have a front row seat to the bus stop traffic. and a little lighter -

I use the frogs to hold the pins in place. You can find them online for cheap. They also have the "binders" made to hold pins. They come in various sizes. -

The restaurant isn't exactly "in" the Moroccan Pavilion. So I can see it not being sponsored by the country. -
Trying to plan a special trip; looking for tips and suggestions
devores replied to disney4dan's topic in Disney Trips
I will add that to officially have this done, you have to go through Disney Weddings. There is no way to set this up either officially or unofficially any other way. Same with proposals. So, if ya got the money, you can do it. If youre looking for cheap, find a friend and dress him up like the good Capt. Just don't do it on Disney property. If youre looking for just a quick vow renewal, that is a little easier to set up. No characters, not in a park can be done by collaborating with a few CMs. In a park is bit trickier, but with some advanced foot work, it can be done. Add a character, and -

Funny thing. DPI is looking for coordinators. They have a list so those interested can sign up and go through interviews for the position. I talked to a leader about becoming a relief coordinator but never signed up on the list or took it further than asking a few questions. I looked at my development connection today and I have training scheduled........... for becoming a coordinator. No interview, no resume, no signing up. Just like that. The selections aren't even supposed to be made until the 18th. The leader said they would rather have me as a relief coordinator than not at all. -
They refurbish everything during the slow times. So its a double edged sword I guess.

Ive been involved with hundreds of government contracts. If a contract is awarded years before work begins, then changes occur, the work must still be done or contractor get paid. Ive seen entire bases built up to pristine conditions only to shut them down a year later. We refurbished a 1 million gallon fuel tank and never put fuel back into it because a new fuel farm took the place of the old tank. But the contracts were awarded and had to be honored. Could be the same thing. -
Ahhh, the old "CM Friend". The only thing worse than a current CM is someone who used to be a CM. TCDs advice is good. Anywhere around a major holiday (Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, etc) avoid WDW. Everyone is out of school and work and come to WDW. Summer time is crowded because everyone saves vacation time for the summer when the kiddos are out of school. Right after a major holiday is the best. Everyone has to leave and go back to work. So the parks are dead. New Years the MK was closed due to capacity, Jan 2, space mountain had a 20 min wait (and for Space Mountain th

They were doing some work on the canal just past the new resort as well. Installing something (maybe another damn dam). They could control the water level from that point and dredge the canal to allow small boat traffic. Depending on who owns the canal, Disney may have no say in the matter. Of course, once they reach Disney property that's a different story. But I believe Golden Oaks was promised transport to the MK at some point. -

The yellow floaties are to keep construction silt and materials from entering the waterways. The box the filters are connected are to clean the water before allowing it to enter seven seas. This would tell me they plan on doing some serious construction either on the banks or in the canal itself. This could support my theory of them removing the dam and having boat transportation form the 4 seasons to MK. -

That would be an interesting trip report to read. Maybe FF.net could front the money to get this going. An experiment in social behavior. I would add, no mooching off fiends at the fort. Must be done totally on your own. Cause it would be too easy to mooch. -

That is an interesting thought. I wonder how long one could "hide out" at WDW and live cheaply. Any Fiends want to try this? Set a budget of $100 a month. Could you spend a few months here? -

I managed but I got the best discount available and had a great retirement plan. If I had to pay the $3000 a month I'd never have done it. But that is one of the good things about the fort. You don't have those permanent settlements all over the place like other camp grounds in Florida. -

I do not believe that one bit. If it's true I'd like to speak to the new fort GM. Why does she get a special rate when there are thousands of folks who return monthly, seasonally, or stay for months at a time. I do know she use to get all kinds of discounts. A TA discount until that was taken away and a cm discount until she lost that job.
