  1. That's very strange . . . because that is exactly what masking tape is not supposed to do!
  2. Zak, Jak, Daizy, Maggie & Blue on Father's Day . . . Zak & Blue are ours. the other three have adopted our parents and our son!
  3. We like Green Acres in Walterboro SC too - huge pull thru sites under tall pines. It's a great spot to overnight! Exit 53, just west of I-95 It's a regular stop for us, both southbound and northbound.
  4. Our regular "first night" stop on our way south is at Harrisburg PA. We like Harrisburg East Campground . . . it's open year round and a good spot for an overnight stay. Full hookups, pull throughs, WiFi, close to restaurants & shopping. Here's a link to their site: http://www.hbgeastcampground.com/
  5. We use 9A every trip. Shorter than I-295 and much prettier! A great view of the harbor from the bridge! Bypasses all the construction and saves time compared to 295. It leaves I-95 at the same interchange as I-295 does, at both the north and south ends. Give it a try, it's a great route.
  6. I have used a patio umbrella stand on every one of the dozen or so lamps I've made. About $20 at WallMart. The cast metal kind, they weigh about 20 pounds. No stakes to worry about and I've never had one blow over.
  7. It adds a little seasonal element Shanta! That little white strip is beautiful white sand in the summer . . . a bit of ice on the shore in winter! Either way, it makes me feel good about heading south to WDW!
  8. I use LePage Flexible Plastic Adhesive from Home Depot in Canada. It's not sold in the USA. I think LocTite is the same thing. Always works well for me!
  9. - - - If you want to build one of these beauties you can find detailed instructions here: http://www.carol-ann...ope%20Light.htm Have fun!
  10. Not exactly sitting . . . but it is on the Trail's End porch!!
  11. I think the 8" globes would work just fine, provided you have a 4" hole saw to cut appropriate openings in the larger globe to insert them and glue them. As for the 12" globe, I would not use it, simply because of the neck. Because the neck (or flange) is there you will have to custom make some type of base to hold the light bulb and connect to your post. For about $30.00 you can buy a 12" globe with no flange or neck and the globe fitter which holds the bulb and connects easily to your post. Nothing to customize! So my answer is, yes the 12" globe would work, but a 12" globe without the ne
  12. I forgot how good the entrance area looked before they put up all those horrible "tombstones" !
  13. We live in Canada, about 25 miles west of where I-81 ends at the Canadian border. We take I-81 to VA where we catch I-77 to I-26 and then I-95 to I-4. No significant traffic to deal with and the construction on I-81 in PA is about complete. The only bypass we take is 9A at Jacksonville, FL.
  14. You can see my instructions for a Mickey Lamp here: http://www.carol-anne.ca/Mickey%20Lamp.htm And my instructions for a Mickey Rope Light are here: http://www.carol-anne.ca/Mickey%20Rope%20Light.htm Have fun making yours!
  15. We use the VirginMobile "pay as you go" plan. No contract. :argh: $50 gives us 30 days of unlimited access. It works very well at The Fort!
  16. If anyone wants a complete copy of these instructions, complete with pictures, just send me a PM including your e-mail address and I'll send them to you in a MS Word file.
  17. Hi folks . . . glad to see the Fiends have landed in a new location! The plans shown above are ones I created and you are welcome to post the pictures as well. If you like I can send copies, or you can just grab them from the Walt's Basement site. I have posted them in a few places, but Walt's Basement was not one of them, I don't know how they got there! But that's OK too, the more the merrier!
