  1. Thanks Andrew!! Wow . . . it's an honor to be named in a TCD Trip Report. Yes, we like 707 and we try to get it when we can. We also like 705, 706, 708 and 714. We were in 714 for the first two weeks of December, just a few sites down from Dave the Castle Guy. You can find our Trip Report here: http://www.carol-ann...ip%20Report.htm ------------ (shameless hijack) We'll be back for the first two weeks of February, trying for 707 again! :) Great Trip Report - as usual! Keep it coming!
  2. The picture is indeed Davy Crockett's sidekick George Russell. He was played in the TV series by Buddy Ebsen. You probably saw Buddy as The Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz and again as Jed Clampett in The Beverly Hillbillies. Later he appeared as Barnaby Jones.
  3. You are absolutely right Carol! There were no freeloaders! These were all die-hard Disney fans! They were all there for Disney fan events and were undoubtedly Disney Resort guests or DVC Members. They were BLOWN AWAY by the decorations at "The Fort". I am so glad Erin invited Carol and I to be a part of it!
  4. Great job Erin! It was a pleasure for Carol and I to be able to help! We heard some terrific comments too! It really was a hit! :bravo:
  5. Rita, measure the diameter, straight across the centre of the post. Dave - love it, great job!
  6. If it is a 3" post it will fit the Home Depot "Globe Fitter" (Online part #100671529) perfectly.
  7. Add a bow and make a Minnie? I love it! Great idea . . .
  8. Beautiful! Nice work! I like the rope light in the background too! :yay:
  9. I have an extra Mickey lamp built and will be bringing it with me to the Fort in December. We'll be there from Nov 30th to Dec 14th. If you are going to be there at the same time and you would like to buy one rather than build one, please send me a PM and we'll work out the details. It's a 12" globe with 6" ears, the ears are lit as well and it's complete with a post and a solid base. It looks just like this!
  10. If you look closely on your way into the office you can see a statue erected in memory of Arnold Ziffle.
  11. Ours is in site #705 and has it's Halloween mask on.
  12. I'd love to have a milk can too, but they are hard to find . . . and it would use up a lot of my valuable storeage space! I use a patio umbrella stand - they are cast metal and weigh about 20 pounds. Very sturdy - mine has gone through some serious storms and never blown over. Do not use a Christmas tree stand - they are not sturdy enough. Two friends have shattered their lamps with Christmas tree stands. One gust of wind and Mickey is toast! The umbrella stand is about $20.00 at WalMart. Use a hammer and chisel to knock the hex nut off the outside of the post on the umbrella stand and
  13. The bulbs are C7 I think, the larger of the two sizes . . . try WalMart in the seasonal or garden area.
  14. I use ordinary Christmas lights. I cut a section with two lights, add a plug and rivet them to a metal clip which I make from metal strapping. The clip slides on to the flange of the smaller globes, inside the large globe. My instructions are here: http://www.carol-ann...ckey%20Lamp.htm
  15. You can also buy them here: http://www.flyingchineselanterns.com/index2.htm We saw plenty of them flying here last summer at a local country music festival.
  16. Yes, Statesville KOA is convenient for an overnight stay and as a bonus you can shop at JR's - it's almost next door! At Jacksonville there's a lot of construction on I-95, take the 9A eastern bypass not the I-295 western bypass. We always go just a bit past Jacksonville to St. Augustine and stay at North Beach Camp Resort. Very nice place! From there it's a quick two-hour hop to the Fort!
  17. You can see a much cleaner copy of those same instructions here: http://www.carol-ann...ckey%20Lamp.htm Have fun with your project! Gary
  18. Look back to post #24 in this thread for the kind of glue I use.
  19. Glad you like the rope lights! Does anyone collect antenna toppers? Here's how we display ours! (Top of the bookcase) I can give you some pointers if you like! Let me know if you're interested and I'll post some instructions! Gary
