The threads I started several years ago with instructions for Mickey Lamp Posts and Mickey Rope Lights have been pretty active lately. I'm glad to see the interest from all of the Do-It-Yourselfers! I don't think I ever posted this project. This one is very easy - and a great way to display all those Antenna Toppers! http://www.carol-anne.ca/Antenna%20Topper%20Rack.htm Have Fun!

Let's Build A Mickey Rope Light
CDNCruiser replied to CDNCruiser's topic in Crafting: Camping and beyond
I haven't seen a Minnie version either. I'd love to see a picture! The rope light that I normally use might be a bit too rigid to make tight curls for the bow, but I did buy one, an 18 footer, several years ago at Spirit Halloween that was a bit more flexible and might do the job! Show me a picture if you can, I'd like to try this out! -

A hole saw is the way to go . . . but yes, they do cost $20 - $30. Good news - you only have to buy it once. When you use the hole saw, keep it flat to the surface of the globe and keep it moving at all times. Use light pressure, don't press too hard. I have found that it melts it's way through as much as it cuts it's way through. Just rub around the edges with a file or sandpaper to remove any beads of melted acrylic and you're ready to glue!

Dave the Castle Guy's 2013 Display
CDNCruiser replied to BradyBzLyn...Mo's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
We were lucky to be Dave and Dee's neighbors at The Fort for a few weeks. We saw his amazing castle again and again and again . . . it just never gets old! Thanks Dave!- 23 replies

Yup - 81 to 77 to 26 to 95 - that's our normal route. We live just across the Canadian border, about 25 miles from where I-81 ends. The only place my wife gets nervous is coming down that 7 mile hill from VA into NC. Dan, do you play cards with the cruise control on coming down there? -
Weirdest burgers at WDW
CDNCruiser replied to BradyBzLyn...Mo's topic in Dining Reviews and Information
In Australia McDonalds serves an "Aussie Burger" - it's a 1/4 Pounder with cheese plus a fried egg and a slice of beet. In New Zealand the "Aussie Burger" is called a "Kiwi Burger" but they are identical. They both sound pretty goofy . . . but they are good!- 7 replies

MiFi at the fort
CDNCruiser replied to Andrew Roberts's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
We use a Virgin Mobile MiFi . . . I think they use the Sprint network. Works just fine for us at the Fort. -
Yes, that is the Olympic Stadium. The Expo's played MLB there for many years! The amusement park on those two islands in the St. Lawrence River is the site of EXPO 67 - the World's Fair which was held in Montreal in Canada's Centennial Year - 1967. The biosphere is a geodesic dome designed by Buckminster Fuller - the same design as Spaceship earth. It was built for EXPO 67. As for the USA invading Quebec . . . give it your best shot! The rest of Canada has been fighting the French-Canadiens since 1750. We have defeated them dozens of times but they just won't quit fighting.

How far have you gone?
CDNCruiser replied to jenifour13's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
We go a few times a year . . . 1,405 miles to Fort Wilderness from our home in Canada. -
While you were in Halifax did you hear about the explosion? During WW1 a ship loaded with munitions was in a collision in the harbor. It lost power, caught fire and drifted to the main dock before exploding. It was the biggest man-made explosion until the Enola Gay dropped her little bundle of fun on Hiroshima during WW2. Most of Halifax was levelled in the explosion!

Judy already covered the Parks Canada question quite well, but I'll add that we also have some amazing Provincial Parks - similar to State Parks in America. Sydney is a coal mining and steel making city. The coal mines have many shafts which stretch out a few miles under the Atlantic Ocean. They're a brave bunch, those coal miners who call themselves "Men of the Deeps". The walled fortress at Louisbourg was the site of several battles during the French and Indian War (1754–1763). Many New England soldiers and militiamen lost their lives at Louisbourg. It is a great "living museum" and

We went to Canada! (and not the one in EPCOT!)

Tim Hortons has been huge in Canada for many years. There are over 3,000 Timmies stores in Canada and about 600 in the USA. -
Wireless Internet available or upgraded?

There is definitely a correlation. Wouldn't have it any other way - we Canadians are very happy with our Universal Health Care! Niagara Falls is more expensive than average because of the tourism . . . but Canada in general is much more expensive than the US. Yes, our wages are typically higher too. Somehow we still beat the USA every time when the OECD measures standard of living and quality of life. -

High prices . . . YUP - we got 'em! High taxes . . . YUP - we got 'em! Our restaurant meals are at least 30% higher than in the USA, so are hotels. In Ontario they've combined the Federal Goods & Services Tax (GST) and the Provincial Sales Tax (PST) into one Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) and it's 13 1/2%. We pay it on almost everything we buy! A gallon of reguar gasoline is about $5.00 and 24 cans or bottles of beer will set you back about $38.00 But we sure do have a nice view of those Niagara Falls! -

Great diagram Dave! Once in a great long while they shut one side of the fall, or the other side, completely off so they can examine the rock faces. I didn't see it, but the US side was last shut down in the late 1960's - they diverted the water flow to the Canadian side. Must have been quite a sight! -
That was a very special occasion. Back when there was a kennel at each park we took the dogs to Animal Kingdom one morning. Pluto was actually walking away (end of his shift?) when he saw us join the line waiting for PhotoPass pictures. He turned around, came back, and waved us in for a picture . . . all the other folks waitng in line cheered! Disney Magic at it's best!

They weren't so good in this one at Animal Kingdom. Zak, the sable, was afraid of Pluto!
