  1. Okay, I know this isn't Disney, but it is Lego related. Seeing as how a lot of you have kids (big and small) that love Legos, you might want to know this. Lego is opening a theme park October 21st in Winter Haven, Fl, at the old Cypress Gardens spot. It is named "Lego Land". It will have the old gardens, and a few of the old rides, but mostly all things Lego. It's about 35 miles from WDW - but an easy drive on I-4 west and south on US 27. Read all about it here: http://florida.legoland.com/
  2. I don't know what your name was on Dis, but it couldn't have been as good as the name you're using here, eh?? to our northern neighbor!! Now, go have a Labatt's Blue!!
  3. Just visualize your daily routines and pack according to that. If you are going to do a lot of meal preparation, make a menu plan & pack accordingly. Also, take a tip from this (as Donnie so succinctly puts it) OLD broad. You do not need to bring 3 or 4 outfits for every day. Nobody looks at you, nobody cares what you're wearing, nobody is going to see you again. Bring jeans, tee's, maybe one nice outfit if you plan on going to an upscale restaurant to dine. If you are coming to Disney when the weather is typically warm, forget the jeans & just bring shorts & tees. Make sure
  4. I don't own an enclosed utility trailer, but when I was a kid our family used to tent camp...a lot! My dad modified a small trailer for him to stow all the camping equipment in and built a rather nice (as I recall) kitchen box to keep everything kitchen related in one convenient location. There were two doors on it that opened up & down rather than side to side, with the bottom door making a work shelf. This was back in the 60's when you just didn't find stuff like that ready-made. Quite a few people copied his idea, because it did make things a lot easier than digging through boxes try
  5. I don't want to be a "Debbie Downer" (but my name is Debbie - hee-hee). I love the decorated sites that are well thought out and organized with some sort of theme. "Dave the Castle Guy" has to have the best of all, in my opinion!! Site 1638 is really cool, too because it is sort of a winter wonderland walk-thru theme. Tiggerinbama's decorations are very tastefully done and a pleasure to look at, so are GrumpynGramma's. Then, you have those people who think "more is better". I know I'm going to get razzed, but some sites are just sensory overload and looks like someone puked up decorat
  6. I haven't stayed in a cabin since they replaced them with the new models. From pictures I've seen, it looks as if the kitchen and living room areas were "flipped", and they added bunk beds in the bedrooms of all the cabins. (Before you had a choice if you needed bunks or not). We've stayed in a cabin with 4 adults and found no problems with hanging clothes and having enough drawers to put things in - but I am a very light packer (learned over the years that you don't need 4 "possible" outfits for every day of your vacation). I'm not sure what you're going to need to store other than clothing
  7. Okay....this is going to sound really off the wall, but I have seen this done. Many times in fact. Get a cabin cruiser. It will serve two purposes. Your DH will have a boat, and you will have a camper. Yes, a camper! That same boat you can sleep in while gently rocking back and forth on a body of water, you can sleep in while it is parked on the trailer. All you need is a sturdy set of portable steps to get in and out of the boat with while you are camping in it at the Fort. Yes, Whitney....I've seen many people camp in their boats at FtW. You just have to think out of the box and make t
  8. River Ranch is in Lake Wales, Florida. They have a lot of things to do there, but the park itself is out in the middle of nowhere. http://www.riverranchrv.net/outside_home.asp
  9. I too know how you feel....but.... a TIFFEN ALLEGRO BAY!!!! AWESOME!!!
  10. We keep a blower in the MH. I blow the site off once or twice a day & vac the inside of the MH each morning. Now mind you at home, I wash floors when my feet stick to them, and vacuum the carpets when I can't find the cats!
  11. Wonderful TR! I know it was much chillier today, and I hope you were prepared. I took a friend on a drive thru of the Fort last night. For February, it looks pretty full! I'll be there Thursday afternoon & I hope to get to meet you!
  12. Kelly (Tiggerinbama) was approached by a Fort manager at Christmas time telling her they were going to start limiting the displays at holiday times. It seems as though people were getting into the power boxes and doing some "mods" (without Lar's approval or advice) in order to boost the amount of power they could use for their displays. Like all things Fort Wilderness.... I'll believe it when I see it.
  13. To camp??? At least once every two months and then 10-14 days in October/November. This summer we will be taking a hiatus for about 3 months when my DH has both knees replaced. To day trip? At least once a week. 26 miles from my front door to the guard shack.
  14. I always try for a full-hook up site. Preferably in 1700 or 1800. I will take a premium if I really want to go & that is all they have available. I will only take a preferred if I really, really HAVE to go due to a Fort Fiend Grand Gathering!!
  15. Wink, wink!!! We haven't stayed at Riverside since 1995, but back then it was wonderful. So was the French Quarters. Those two were our preferred resorts when we couldn't get a deal on a cabin.
  16. Welcome to the BEST virtual campfire in the world!! :welcome:
  17. I thought the same thing Shore! The only question we ever have is: do we start in Mexico or Canada?? I prefer to start in Canada. Reason being, I'm not a fan of Mexican beer. If I start the tour in Canada, by the time I get to Mexico, I don't care what the beer tastes like!! :)
  18. I wish!! I've sent a message to Denise inviting her over here, but no reply. :waycool:
  19. Don't forget to stop at Krispy Kreme for your coffee and donuts to snack on while you're checking things out!! :waycool:
  20. Deb who was your salesman? Is it Greg? Because that's who I think Matt and Rich are doing a golf cart for. Glen Soper. He's still there after all these years!! Great guy - not at all pushy & will work to get you a deal you can live with.
  21. The signs are down by the day care center and a back bus entrance to the PORS resort. I'm serious when I say they are about 1/8 of a mile apart when you're going west & east. If you're going east, they are about 1/3 mile or less from the 4-way stop sign.
  22. We stayed at River Ranch shortly after they first opened. It wasn't much to look at then. Tom, thanks for posting these pictures - cause it makes me want to go & check them out once more. A lot has changed from what I remember.
