  1. I've lived in Mount Olive Shores North in Polk City since 2003. We bought property in the development in 2000, rented a pad from March 03 until our house was built in April 04. I love this area!! Heavy traffic is when you wait for 4 cars to go by in order to get out on the highway!! :D We moved here after living in the Sarasota/Bradenton area for 30 years.
  2. Carol - It has to be a RICK thing!! We full-timed for 1.5 years & I LOVED it! My Rick had to have another house for all his toys. :rofl2: If it were totally up to me I'd be back to full-timing and have a utility trailer big enough to house a golf cart, a mini-cooper, and some extra necessities for Rick. I don't need much as evidenced by the fact that when we went to full-timing I had 15 small boxes of sentimental knick-knacks and Christmas decorations in storage. Rick's stuff filled up the rest of a double car sized storage unit from top to bottom!!! :rofl2:
  3. The way I see it, if you are unable to walk for any distance, you're probably not able to stand and ride a segway. As far as the theme parks are concerned, the ECV's are dangerous enough. Trust me....I've been rammed by many an old person that should not have been on an ECV. Add segways into the mix and you're just asking for trouble. For once, they got it right!
  4. Okay.....let's everyone gather in a circle. Yes, you too Johnny. Okay. Very good. Now everyone hold hands. Very good. And-a one, and-a two..... Kumbayah, my Lord. Kumbayah!
  5. Let's face it, folks. Disney wants everyone to think that it's always sunny and warm at WDW. The latest commercial showing a family's 2011 vacation began showing the 2nd week of February. If it was truly a 2011 vacation, it would have to have been filmed in January. TRUST ME when I say that nobody was running around in shorts, t-shirts, and bathing suits in January at WDW. I don't think there was one day above 45 degrees. So - it's tourism propaganda. It's never cold and dreary at WDW!!
  6. I would say no more than 18'. We had a 21' and I KNOW that could not be moved by hand. Carol can push her Mouse-Ke-Tab by herself, and I think hers is 15'.
  7. Thanks for the info, Michael. And the link. Even though I have lifetime FtW mugs, I still buy the current mug. We often pop in to other resorts and I feel guilty enough that my "stay" has never ended!! :rofl2:
  8. Have it your way, have your way. Have it your way, at Burger King!! We need a "name that jingle" thread!
  9. I like my burgers medium-rare, with cheddar cheese, BACON, ketchup & mustard. Hold the rabbit food cause if I wanted a salad, I would have ordered one!!
  10. This happened to me at Hillsborough State Park outside of Tampa. We took about 30 kids from church camping for the weekend. I had an old style metal coleman cooler with the metal rotating lock (the cooler was new when this happened) and raccoons were able to open it and stole a plastic bag full of pre-cooked spaghetti and meatballs!!! I'm tellin' ya, that cooler was difficult for a human to open - but not for the coons!! Fortunately, in almost 40 years of camping at the Fort I have never seen a raccoon. Lots of squirrels and armadillos, but no raccoons. Still and all I would not leave food
  11. Sensei - Ditto what Jen & Lorna said. My DH & I have been going to the Fort on a very regular basis since 1974. We've had AP's for longer than we didn't, and at times, the pixie dust seems to vanish. Jaded? Yeah, I've been there. The truth of the matter is that whenever we go to the Fort now, at least ONE Fiend is there. I've also been known to go to the Fort just to meet up with Fiends. (We live really close, too.) The friendships that have been forged on this site (and the one that must not be named) have given the Fort a whole new life and meaning. I'm glad you found us and
  12. Yikes! It is during the Food and Wine Festival. Would that make doing the World Showcase difficult? We are planning to go mid-week on a non-Magic Hour day. Now I am starting to re-think everything. Argh! During F&W there are kiosks about every 100 feet or so representing many countries of the world through food and wine (and beer, and slushies). At night and on the weekends it is a freaking circus of obnoxious drunks wandering around world showcase. Not so much in Future World, as there are no food & wine kiosks. Mon-Wed is slower than Thurs-Sun, for obvious reasons - the loca
  13. My DH was in the RV biz (LongView RV near LazyDays). RV dealers love to sell Class C's, but they do NOT like to take them in on trade. The bunk area over the cab tends to eventually crack due to lack of support and will leak. Even the ones that use the cab-over for storage & entertainment centers. Also, the "head room" in the overhead bunk is too limited for adults. You cannot sit upright, and if you wake up suddenly & sit up, you WILL crack your head on the roof. OUCH!! We have had 2 class A gassers & 3 diesels. I prefer the layouts of the gasser's, my DH prefers the power o
  14. PureTCrazy is both anal and has DOCD (Disney OCD). Add in a dash of Scooge that wants to get the most 'bang for the buck', and it's pure hell to be around her when a Disney trip gets close. Ask her about the 2010 Christmas trip if you don't believe me. I even had to pull out the laptop and the wireless dongle to make changes to our ressies for our Marathon Weekend trip - and it was only 3 nights. I sure hope someone has "The List" so I can keep her off the phone ... OMG do I feel your pain!!! My brother (NTSammy5) starts 3 or 4 months ahead of time with his excel "Disney Itinerary". At t
  15. Depending on when in the fall you are coming, and what day of the week you plan on going to Epcot, you should be able to do everything in one day if you get there at rope-drop. If you are coming during Food & Wine - all bets are off. However, now that I've said that, during F&W it's just the food/booze booths and the walkways that are jam-packed. You can't take beer on the attractions!! :rofl2:
  16. :rofl2: Another brother/sister team!!! YAY!! My brother is NTSammy5. Oh - and to what type of RV.... the only thing we have not had is a 5th wheel. We are Class A MH people, but there are only 2 of us & 2 cats, and of course....my brother when he needs a Fort-Fix. :rofl2:
  17. Popcorn. I don't know what it is about WDW popcorn that tastes so much better than anyone else. I used Orville Reddenbacher popcorn, popping oil, and popcorn salt at home, and it just does NOT taste the same!! It's magical popcorn, I'm tellin' ya!!
