  1. Last time we were at DTD Ghirardelli was handing out samples of their sea-salt caramel chocolate squares. I'm not a huge caramel fan but those things were mighty tasty!!
  2. I see people do it all the time as long as you don't encroach on a neighboring site.
  3. I have never done business with Kenny but I have met him and spoken with him when he helped out another Fiend who was having problems with his personal cart. Not only did Kenny deliver the needed part but he only charged for the part itself and no delivery charge. To top it off, he had one of his techs talk the fiend through the repair process. There was nothing in it for Kenny. Not one thing! Kenny is a gem & I refer people to him all the time. Kenny can use the business and people benefit from his fair rental prices. It's a win-win situation. So IMHO the OP is a
  4. I have my packet from last weekend. It includes: directory of services; Your Guide the the Magic book which does include park maps, DTD map, water park maps, and general WDW map; FtW Map a tiny one; pictures of approved and unapproved fire pits; guide for holiday decorations; recreation activities;, park hours; golf cart rules, nev rules; authorized and unauthorized vehicles; and my bill. The check-in hostess also put our parking passes & room keys in the packet. That's about it!
  5. We took our maiden voyage in our new (to us) little motor home the weekend of 9/27-9/30. The MH is a 2006 Forest River Lexington Class C - 26' cutie. I loaded up the golf cart & drove over by myself. The unit drove like a kitten! Rick left work when I left home and coincidentally pulled in behind me at check-in. We were in site 1724 (which we have stayed in before). I backed in with no problems & we were set up in minutes. Minor set-back was when the battery in Rick's Ford Edge died. Thankfully it is under warranty & Ford had someone out within 20 minutes to jump start him - and th
  6. I guess the parent company, Aerophile, must have gotten the snags worked out. It was originally closed because its' sister balloon in Hong Kong sprung a leak and injured 5 people. I'll be glad to see it back because it added so much excitement to the DTD skyline! http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2012-07-01/news/os-disney-balloon-removed-20120701_1_balloon-accident-downtown-disney-hong-kong
  7. Salem , People of Faith, & All Saints are ELCA, Christ the King is LCMS. Crown of Glory is Wisconsin Synod. Just in case synodical tenets matter to you. I'm LCMS but have gone to Salem a few times. It's the closest and a very nice congregation.
  8. The past few days these danged pests have appeared in droves! We're 25 miles from the Fort.
  9. Our first stay was in October 1974. We were married in March of that year but could not get vacation time until October. Our place of employment, General Telephone, belonged to the Magic Kingdom Club and we could book vacation plans (yes, they had them then) through the MKC. We had 6 nights, 7 days at the Fort (in the 400 loop - don't recall the site #), 3 days of admission to the MK, ride/attraction coupons - A,B,C,D,E & the Magic Key coupons, coupons for meals. We went to the Hawaiian Luau, the Top of the World, and various other meal coupons, coupons for horseback riding, the sprites,
  10. Not at Disney but close enough. I'll try to remember to go outside and look with camera in hand.
  11. Hey!! It was MY story - and you rained on it!! But you are right on the nosey about us Central Floridians expecting summer rain showers in the afternoon - well - at least 40% of us!
  12. Oh yes they do!! In reality, if the weatherman says 40% chance of rain, 40% of the viewing area will receive some precipitation - if only for 30 seconds - so that makes the weatherman 100% accurate! :rofl2: The Tampa Bay viewing area spans from Punta Gorda to Brooksville (N-S) and from the Gulf of Mexico to Eastern Polk County. That's approximately 11000 square miles!!
  13. The back-up camera on my Mariner & Rick's Edge are a heck of a lot clearer than any MH back-up camera I've seen. Why is that?
  14. It sounds like the perfect "girl's escape"!! I would have been right with you with the piano player. Jackie Gleason was such a great entertainer. They just don't make 'em like that any more. That was certainly a lucky find. If you can remember his name and/or the name of his book, I would be appreciative!!
  15. I have a few things that need sprucing & then will post pictures. I have ressies for 10/4-10/16 but am not staying that long. Not sure yet which weekend we are going - but I'll be sure to post it!! We are aiming for our old one weekend a month routine. I also want to go to St. Mary's, Ga. I came across a KOA website for that area & it looks really cool. It's about 3.5 hours from my home.
  16. I drove my new (to me) motor home to the Fort and back! It handled like a charm & was fun to drive. I even went through 2 rain showers and a lot of wind. I'm good to go & can even back up with no help and no spotter!! YaY :jumpforjoy !!!
  17. I went two years ago (late 50's here) and I had a BLAST!! I went to each candy station and did the old "trick or treat, smell my feet" thingy, and got twice as much candy as my DH who simply held his bag out. Would I do it again?? No. But I am soooooo glad we did go at least once!! Go ahead and splurge!! The parade is worth it if nothing else!
  18. Imagineers are people who spent all their time doodling in the classroom and not paying attention to things like history or geography. They were the ones who said, "Why do I need to know all this stuff? I'm going to be an ar-teest!"
  19. I remember about a year ago - or maybe longer - there was a discussion about the BYBBQ getting a new home behind the 100-200 loops. Someone even posted engineering drawings for the BBQ & new golf cart parking lot in front of Settlement Trading. Have those plans been chucked? Heck, it's been so long since I've been to the Fort, I don't even know if they still have the BYBBQ. :thank-you-smiley3:
  20. We drove thru the Fort last night and they were trenching and laying about 3-4" diameter conduit in the 1700 loop for something. Not even sure it was conduit. It was on a huge spool - but it was light grey in color. Maybe someone could tell us from my vague description what this might be and what it's for?
