Did You Know? (share your Fort facts)
tim5055 replied to BradyBzLyn...Mo's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
Not to be picky, but this is a correction to the correction, correction. Below is a direct quote from an internal WDW website. " Opening Day, November 19, 1971: A total of 40 Cast Members welcomed guests to the resort on opening day. The resort opened with 232 campsites." Is it wrong? Well, depends on your definition of wrong. There were a total of 232 sites, but only 231 rentable as there was a VIP trailer installed on 118. HERE is the handout Fort Wilderness gave out in the early 90's. It shows 231, but comments on the trailer on 118 for a total of 232. Forgive the scan, it was the w -

Correction here... The Fort opened in 1971. The amount of campsites sounds about right, though. Correction to the correction, FW opened with 231 sites. The "missing" site is probably site #118 which opened with a VIP trailer on it, not an available campsite.Continuing - In 1991 there were only 2 seasons at FW Regular and Value. During Value season the prices were: Partial Hook Up $30 Full Hook Up $37 Preferred Hook Up $44 All prices per night plus tax Discovery Island and Pioneer Hall both opened in April of 1974 Creekside Meadow group camping area added April 1976 River Country opened Jun -
As I state on my FW web page I would recommend checking with your insurance provider for Urgent Care facilities within your insurance plan in the area of Disney. Should you need less than "emergency" care you will already have information on a provider that accepts your insurance. On a similar note I always recommend folks obtaining information on emergency vets if they plan on taking their fur friends with them on vacation. Funny thing is that I had the information on vets on the page long before I added about emergency human medicine. :-\

What defines YOUR site?
tim5055 replied to devores's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
OK, to get back on topic..... I have found that where ever we tie Natasha out seems to define the limits of our site nicely. We usually tie her on the awning side of the pop up limited to well within our "reasonable" site. Funny, folks who think part of the site is a shortcut to wherever they are walking have second thoughts when a German Shepherd Dog is sitting there smiling at them. Natasha is good about not barking unless you violate here space and she is quick to learn what space around the site is hers. That is one of the rules that I hate folks violating,... I promise I wont walk thro -

E-mail from Disney today 4/3/20011

And now I am starting to get the notification e-mail from my credit card companies. The last one said all the hackers got was e-mail address and my name. For me, those things are all over the web so I'm not to concerned. I always deleted advertising e-mails immediately so I don't think a little more spam will hurt me. -

Yup, it was a hack of Epsilon, who provides e-mail services for multiple major companies. I would assume that the companies would not give a vendor more than maybe the e-mail address and first name (as in an email ad that starts Dear Tim). HERE is an article about the breach -
Actually, as far back as the late 70's & early 80's when I went every year as a chaperon it was for schools nationwide. In the chaperon center we used to have a contest for the school that traveled the farthest distance. A couple of years I went it was won by schools from Alaska.

HERE is an interesting read on the subject. While this page talks about hiking trail access, the Q&As give information on the basis of the new rules.

Cool Bus RV
tim5055 replied to Just Beachy's topic in Camper Suggestions: from tents to Class A beauties
Nope, by it's name, a CDL (Commercial Drivers License) is only needed to drive specific classes of commercial vehicles. While a few states have started requiring a similar non-commercial drivers license many still do not. You will see many commercial looking tractors pulling fifth wheels with "Private Coach" or similar things painted on the doors or fenders to notify law enforcement that it is not a commercial vehicle. It is along the same lines that RV's do not have to drive through the scales that ll commercial vehicles have to. -
Actually, much closer is the Sand Lake Animal Clinic. Both Sand Lake and the 24 hr Emergency Vet are listed on my web-page. Natasha never goes anywhere that she doesn't know where a vet is. :)

By Dewayne Bevil, Orlando Sentinel This spring will see the last Grad Nite celebrations at Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World announced Wednesday. Disney World says the increase in theme park attendance in the spring has made scheduling the after-hours, separate-ticket event for high school seniors increasingly difficult. As an alternative, Disney will offer Florida school groups a special one-day, one-park ticket for $55 valid any time during the year. Full Article

You can check out my web page with Previous Years Pricing to see the pricing and "seasons" for several years.

Is the mouse getting greedy, probably yes - but.... Pricing is set just like everything else, supply and demand. The dates you are looking for are in the middle of "peak season" due to spring break visitors. There is a lot of demand and very little supply. You are not being given a discount, those are full rack rates. Peak season runs Feb 21 - April 16 with base pricing (no tax) for a Preferred site is $102 per night during the week and $105 Friday/Saturday nights.

IIRC it was the Welches grape juice stand. It was across the sidewalk from 20,000 leagues, just past Dumbo on the right walking toward the teacups.
