  1. Well, today will be our first park day! Slept in yesterday and then went over to DTD to do a little shopping and visit guest services Lou, is it Disney's plan to screw up traffic enough so that folks will ride the bus? Lots of lanes blocked around DTD so that only busses can use them. Traffic was horrendous. Get rid of the barrels and cones and there would be no problems. Came back to FW and spent a relaxing day here visiting with family. Went over to the GF to look at decorations. Beautiful, but who ever thought to sell gingerbread from inside a huge gingerbread house? Oh yea, Disney. Wh
  2. Well, the maiden voyage of the new camper has begun. We pulled out of Columbia, SC at about 8:15 Friday night. Drove to the Florida line and stopped at the welcome station. As I have said, this new camper is huge compared to the old pop up but we are getting used to it. We slept for about 5 hours then on the road again. Kenny had called Friday afternoon to confirm the reservation and let us know to call when we got in as we had a lot of setting up and organizing to do we told him there was no rush, take care of other folks first. We pulled in to FW just before 10, I'm sorry to say our first
  3. It was fairly full last night, but there is a line of folks heading for the exit. Probably all the locals heading home
  4. Well, to be honest I really have not had a lot of time to devote to the problem. Moving into the new house, picking up the new RV and getting ready for FW trip has taken a lot of my time. Thanks for the ideas and keep them coming. When we get back from FW I will be looking at this more intently. While we are at FW we are having a concrete drive poured in front of the NC barn to make it a little easier to get in there. After the FW trip it will be safe and warm in the barn until a Ft. Lauderdale trip in January.
  5. Im finding that Ray and I have a lot in common. Must be a SCUBA thing. PADI COURSE director here, taught for about 15 years off and on. Get wet, then have a drunk!
  6. Only one of the drives would work, and unfortunately one side of that drive becomes the neighbors property. The other side of the drive is where several drainage pipes come together. I'm really not seeing the ability to,widen. Maybe sitting out there with an adult beverage may expand my thinking. Something to think about after the fort
  7. Well, I towed the new camper from our barn in NC to the new house in SC yesterday to prep for our trip this weekend to FW. Guess what, it won't turn into the driveway.... It's just too darn long. It's sitting at my wife's office now which is not the end of the world but not a long term solution. The new house has a drainage ditch (sounds awful, but really not) across the front and both driveways are like little bridges with a little land on either side. No matter how I go I'll end up dropping a wheel in the ditch. So, choices: All trips start from the barn in NCRent an RV space aroun
  8. Well, our trip must be close, Kenny just charged my card! I'm sitting at our barn in NC where the new camper that replaced the pop up is sitting. Tomorrow i tow it back to SC to ready it for the trip. As I think I said n a previous post, it's huge. 35 feet..... I hope I can get it backed into the driveway at home! Lou, hope to see you next week. Check in on Sat. Look for the sign.
  9. Royal Caribbean (RCCL in cruise forum lingo) is a very popular line. First class all the way. We did a 14 day Alaska cruise/tour this year on RCCL and loved it. If 4 days is your limit, you almost limit yourself to Florida cruises. Miami, Tampa and Port Canaveral are the spots. New Orleans has an extremely limited number of 4 day cruises. On most 4 day itineraries you probably limit yourself to the Bahamas. All RCCL ships are big enough to blend in on. Figure 2000 passengers on the average ship, the new one carry around 5500 (Oasis of the Seas). All ships have casinos which open after you
  10. Wow Lou, with fancy words like that on your resume you could apply for the FW/WL GM position.
  11. Now to enter my two cents... Take the SWA flight to SNA and stay near DL. The trip to/from the game is where I'm thinking outside the box - Take the bus. Not the LA Metro buses, but the Bowl Bus http://national.bowlbus.com/Trip/From/Anaheim They handle the trip to/from the game. You get time to visit DL. Now, before I make comments on my single trip to DL I would like to see your trip report.
  12. Having lived in Atlanta & DC, and traveled to LA, NYC and Philly a LOT I can say I agree 100%!! Travel in the LA area just seems to last forever.
  13. I find it ironic that the "tradition" of immersing new CMs in all that is Disney via the Traditions training is being shortened. You would think that as the years between Walt running the company and the present grow longer you would want to increase this training so CMs would understand how the company got where it is. Mind boggling.....
  14. Well, we have a German Shepherd that weighs in at about 80 pounds. He has a deep bark and loves to let people hear it. But, we request a pet loop, and he is never out alone. If folks are walking we try to keep him quiet but it is a chore. Really, he just wants to play with everyone. Sorry they moved you. If you were in a non pet loop the dog and family should move.
  15. In a way,I like the program. There are a few rides I want to do in a day and after that its really just people watching (and maybe a Dole Whip). This allows me to do that. There will alsway be a certain percentage of folks who just show up, wander around and wait in lines. I don't want to be them. There is a certain ewww factor to them knowing what I do all the time, but hey - everyone is following me around. Get my credit card records, my EZpass records and a few other things and you have me nailed..... Oh wait, my car has a black box and most companies I deal with trade information s
  16. Wow! That was an interesting read. Seems my Magic Bands may become collectors items!
  17. Anytime. Get a few tickets in DC that you don't pay and you will find one of them on your car!
  18. Well, upt to this point we have always been in a pop up. The canvas walls didn't keep a lot of heat in :) We just traded up to a 35 ft Coachment trailer. It has an electric fireplace and I plan on bringing our ceramic heater to FW for our December trip. We do have an LP furncae, but I want to try to avoid using it. With a little luck December will be warm. I have been at FW in December that I needed shorts and went swimming at midnight to cool off! This will be the maiden voyage of the new camper. I have my site sign ready to go!!!
  19. If you leave the trailer without it being locked to the TV, buy a wheel lock for the trailer: http://www.etrailer.com/Locks/Fulton/FTK1000100.html This is just an example, there are several out there.
  20. Thats funny, but I usually call the front desk and do the opposite of any advice given. The last time I went to the front desk with a question, the CM just looked at me funny and said I don't know, I usually work at the Grand Floridian,.
  21. Sorry to say, most organizations have too many bosses to begin with. I guess it will be too much to ask that savings be put into guest experience.....
  22. Really great advice, thanks! Niko generally rides around our property in the NC mountains, so no leash there. I will pay attention in December when we are at the fort.
