Post Your Pictures From the Fort Here!
FortWildernessFan replied to AuburnJen's topic in Pictures from the Fort
I will throw in some of mine! -
As a authorized Disney Travel Agent, I can book a trip of up to 7 nights per year at a 50% discount. But we love the Fort so much we always stay there. AoA at 50% for the same 7 nights in a Family suite is $1,583.41. Where as my 7 nights at the Fort with a premium site is costing me $419.06. But even at normal rate $838.12. It cost us an extra $350 in gas to bring the camper with the truck instead of taking the car. So we still save $395.29 and we have a lot more room and enjoy the ambiance and peacefulness of the Fort.

Rumor: New Epcot Attraction?
FortWildernessFan replied to AC in A2......Aaron's topic in Disney Rumors Board
Wow! Epcot has always been my favorite park. It is out dated in a lot of areas. But my wife and I enjoy the ambiance more than anything. We like to turn the kids loose at whatever park they want and then we make a leisure day out of Epcot and spend some very needed time with each other. We like to slowly make our way around and snack on different tastes from the different countries. We then finish up the day sharing a funnel cake and sitting on the steps at Japan and watching illuminations. -
One thing to keep in mind is being farther from the beach will make the Magic Kingdom fireworks quieter but will make the fireworks from Epcot's Illuminations louder. Just a thought. To be off the beaten path I would suggest the full hook up loops. They are a little further from the main road. (bus and car noises) as well as the pools and marina. They also have a little more space between the sites and are very shady. But if you come on the weekend they tend to fill up with a lot of locals. July is really busy so I would make your reservations ASAP. We take our dogs on our golf cart and

Ticket Upgrade Question
FortWildernessFan replied to Brent... Just Brent's topic in WDW and Disney Park Discussions
I think that since you have waterparks on the pass that they will only exchange it for a Premium AP. -
Welcome former neighbor. I just sold my house in Greenville, GA. You will love camping specifically at the Fort. We love the 1400 loop for us. We also take our own golf cart but we used to rent from Golf Cart Enterprises for years, a lot cheaper than the Fort's golf carts. I used to check in then go pick up the golf cart in my truck, I would bring my own ramps, but I think they deliver now, but not sure. Anyway enjoy your trip.

I do love the Buffalo steak at Artist Point. The venesine (spelling) lokks good but I have a few questions? :smiley-raising-waving-hand: "Drunken Goat Cheese" Do you get the the goat drunk before you milk it? Or do they make it while they are Drunk? Or do they get drunk and then milk the goat? :stooges:

Well I called today and did get a different answer. They said that they recommend a premium site because of our large site needs but that I was more than welcome to change to the full hook up loops if I want, but now DW wants to stay premium to avoid all the sand/shell stuff in the camper. :banghead: Oh well. Thanks everyone for the advice. :highfive:

Best Dinner Places???
FortWildernessFan replied to Tnvolcamper's topic in WDW and Disney Park Discussions
Our family favorites are: 1: Ohana: Polynesian excellent food and experience plus they pipe in audio from Wishes and you can see the fireworks from parts of the restaurant. 2: Beaches & Cream: Between Yacht & Beach Club. Styled after 50's soda fountain. Good food and great ice cream. Kids love the Kitchen Sink. 3: Tokyo Dining: EPCOT: Great Sushi and Atmosphere also with window table has a good view of Illuminations. 4: Trails Inn: Fort Wilderness: Good breakfast and value and convenient on the way to Magic Kingdom. 5: Chef Mickeys: Contemporary: Good character breakfast in a great s -
We have always booked the premium sites. But last April we stayed in 1600 (Full Hookup) loop and loved it. A lot less crowded, except for the locals on the weekends, and it is very peaceful. We have our own golf cart so distance from things really didn't matter that much. I tried to book a full hookup this year but they said that my camper is too big and I need a premium site. I told them that I stayed in the 1600 loop last time with the same camper. And they told me it was there new policy. I know my camper is large 43' from tongue to bumper and 2 slides on the one side but it has never be

Thanks everyone for the nice words. I have been buying piece by piece over the last year and finally got around to install it all. Thanks. We will be checking in June 1, 2013. Thanks. My oldest daughter would of preferred Orange and Blue. But I was born and raised a Dawg fan. I actually bought new body panels that are formed in red plastic. I was going to paint the old body but new panels were more cost effective. I bought the body panels, windshield roof and seats all from the same company, Golf Cart Trader. The seats & windshield are officially licensed products.

Dining at the Fort
FortWildernessFan replied to Dryadi's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
I agree with Dave. Our kids really like the pizza. But my wife and I like the Nachos and wings at Crocket's tavern. We also enjoy the take out fried chicken. The breakfast and dinner buffets are very good and one of the better values on Disney property. The food at lunch is not buffet, but is tasty. -
At the Fort for Thanksgiving!!
FortWildernessFan replied to RVinMomma's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
We will be there as well for 11/22 - 11/30. We have requested the 1400 loop again, our personal favorite. Keep an eye out for a red lifted UGA golf cart, and come say hi. -
Well folks we are here! We got here Friday 4/21/2012 and we will leave Tuesday 5/1/2012! We are in site 1733 right behind the comfort station. We have stayed at the Fort probably 50 times over the last 20 years and we always stayed in preferred or premium sites. But this time we chose full hook up thanks to everyone's suggestion on here. We love it! so much quieter and a lot more private, also a tremendous savings with my wife's travel agent discount. Only $683.76 for 11 nights!! We are having a blast! We will try to remember to post a trip report!

Share your entertainment set ups
FortWildernessFan replied to Just Whipperwhirl's topic in Camping for Kids
We have a 19" Flat Screen & Blu-Ray player in our bedroom. A 13" TV/DVD combo and a Wii in the kids bunk room. A 32" Flat Screen and a PS3 in the living room area. We also set up a 19" Flat Screen under the awning. The kids bring board games, cards, bikes and skooters. And of coarse Dewey, our Chihuahua and the golf cart! -
In our family we all get so excited about our upcomming trips that we call it a sickness, "Disney Fever". Treating Disney Fever can be difficult sometimes. We usually look back through photos and videos of previous trips. We also start playing Disney music whenever we can. Does any body else have issues like this? Well if you do you might want to check out this website www.disneymouseradio.com and the mouseradio app for the iphone in the market. This site streams park music from the past and the present 24 hours a day. So now I turn it on while I am viewing Fort Fiends and I thought you guys w

1400 Loops
FortWildernessFan replied to Retired and Happy (Ken)'s topic in Fort Wilderness Loops Information
We love the 1400 outerloop as well. We had 1433 in October 2010 and it is our favorite. I have to position the camper just right so both the driver side slides clear everything but we love the proximity to the campfire. -

Our favorite restaurant is Ohana' at the Polynesian resort. Also we enjoy Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge. Another good one is Rainforest Cafe at either Animal Kingdom or Down Town Disney.
