Campsite question
FortWildernessFan replied to FortWildernessFan's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
I really do not see why they would not let a small pup if they allow a tent. They both will sleep more people , just a little more comfortable in the pup. I will be able to keep it on the pavement and both of my other vehicles will be parked in the outer lot. The only other thing we will have is 2 golf carts. -
Okay everyone. I have been coming to FW since 1977 and it is my favorite place on earth. For years we brought our 43' bunk house with our kids. Now that the kids are all grown up we have sold the bunkhouse and bought a Fleetwood Discovery Motorhome. We have our annual family trip coming up in February 2016. We are now taking my daughter, her husband and our 3 grandchildren with us in addition to my other daughter and my mother. Over the years I have seen people set up a small pop up camper behind the motorhome on the same site. Does anybody know if FW still allows this? We will have 9

Fire at the Fort!
FortWildernessFan replied to bord1niowa......Curt's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
I went to the out post and saw the truck sitting in the grass. I thought that it was a contractor's truck, because we all know hoy the Fort frowns on parking off the pavement. When I cam out I saw, what I thought was a little steam coming from under the hood. I thought maybe it was overheated. But as I made my way to the bus stop the smoke was getting worse. A bus driver got on the radio and called it in. You'reelcome. Just doing my duty for us FortFiends! I was thinking the same thing, it was spreading to the brush and trees. Yes and when they got the hose over it was about 30 fe -

New member with campsite question
FortWildernessFan replied to jgonyo's topic in Fort Wilderness Loops Information
My old camper was a 39 ft Sierra Travel Trailer with 2 driver side slides and a 21 ft awning. Overall length was 43 ft from coupler to rear bumper. My tow vehicle was a Ford F350 Crew Cab Dually and it was 23 ft long with the weight distribution hitch. That is a total length of 66 ft hitched. Once unhitched I needed a couple more feet. We never put it in the 300 loop. But it has been in the 100 preferred 400, 500, 1300 premium and 1600, 1700 Full hook up sites. I would be a nervous wreck trying to pull it around the 300 loop. I had a hard enough time getting it around the 100 and 400 loops. -
New to us, 5th wheel!
FortWildernessFan replied to FortWildernessFan's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
Okay, I just got off the phone with GA Department of Public Safety. Recreational double towing is allowed as long as the following conditions are met. First towed trailer must be a fifth wheel or gooseneck hitch rated to handle the total of both trailers. Traditional bumper style towing of doubles is not allowed. The first trailer must have hydraulic or electric brakes on all axles. The second trailer must have brakes if the weight of it exceeds 1500 lbs. Both trailers must have lighting that meets DOT standards. Total combined trailer length cannot exceed 60 feet. Total weight cannot exceed G -

New to us, 5th wheel!
FortWildernessFan replied to FortWildernessFan's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
Yes, I have already checked into it. But we have no other way to get our golf cart down to the Fort. If I get pulled over I can show them my Class A CDL with Doubles Endorsement, LOL. I am not sure but the reason we can haul them commercially is because the law applies to actual "Ball hitches" A fifth wheel uses a King Pin and have a lot higher rating than a "ball". I am looking into it further though. Thanks for the heads up. -
Merry Christmas to the family with a gift for ourselves. We finally traded our camper. Our 1999 Forest River Sierra 39' Travel Trailer with 2 slides for a 2001 Forest River Palomino 25' Fifth Wheel with 1 slide and $750. The new camper is 14 feet shorter, 4,835 lbs lighter, 2 years newer and hardly been used. Now I need to weld on a hitch to the rear so we can pull our little trailer with the golf cart. With the kids grown , except Geena, we just didn't need the huge unit anymore. Now with the fuel savings we can go to the Fort more often. We have our test run to the Fort February 15-22, 2014!

Hey everyone. I came across a great website for park audio music for all of us Disney Fans with "Disney Fever". www.d-cot.com It is a great website and the only one that I have come across that has on demand music. Check it out, I am certain that you will enjoy it. If you sign up be sure and tell them that GAAzureMach1 referred you. :partythree:

Very Disappointed :(
FortWildernessFan replied to tim5055's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
You could make a removable bridge out of a treated 2x12 and 2 treated 2 x 4's for strong backs. Pull the trailer in until you get the one side tires close then align the bridge with the tires. After you get it in just remove the bridge and place it in the garage. That is exactly how I do it for mine and it has a dry weight of 9800lbs. -

Welcome, there are some great people on here! Enjoy!!! :grpwelcome: -
So I am sitting back, relaxing, watching the boob tube today in my camper. The girls were off at Typhoon Lagoon and DW was playing around on her lap top. Well all of a sudden I had a feeling like someone was watching me. I peaked through the blinds on the little window on the slideout and there is TotalJoker waving at me. It was nice talking to you today and I would of invited you in except I had strict orders from DW to not let anybody see this messy camper. So outside I came in my house coat. Three preteen girls can really make a mess. Anyway I hope to meet up with some other Fiends before w
