With the cost of a TT and a new van, you're right in the ballpark for a slightly used type C. If you've never towed before, it can be intimidating until you get used to it. A type C, however, with the way they are made today, might just be your ticket. They aren't any harder to drive than a van and are considerably easier to back in to a site. Also, any of them between 25 and 30 ft. can go places my type A can't. With the floorplans now available you might find one that is just what you need. As for pop-up's they are the easiest of all to tow. They are lighter and since they are lower profile

Just a note. Hope you get this before the PDI. Make sure you operate every single system on the trailer before you sign and pay. This means stove, a/c, water pump, toilet, faucets, lights, tv's, radio, fridge, etc.... That way, if anythings not right, have your salesman make a note of it and then make an appointment to have all things repaired asap. Good luck and enjoy the new RV. -
When we go to the beach, I put a pan of water with just a touch of bleach and a towel by the patio mat. When we come to the RV, we remove our shoes, rinse the sand off in the pan, dry with the towel, and enter. Works great at keeping all the sand out of the coach. We also use heavy duty paper plates and disposable cups. We wash enough dishes at home and don't choose to do it as much while camping.

PLEEEEEEEEZE DON'T STOP CAMPING. Find another unit that willl fit your needs and honor Josh and keep his memory by camping. I really want to meet all the Fort Fiends before I go to that big campground in the sky and you are included.. I have to say that I don't know the story about Josh, but I feel that he is of the greatist importance to you and I wish to respect that. -
OUTSTANDING!!!!!!

Me Too!!!!!. -
In all seriousness, Please let your awnings down or take them in when you might have the slightest suspicion that inclement weather may be approaching. I've seen too many people suffer the wrath of a summer storm in Florida. Winds can exceed 60 mph in one of our thunderstorms and I wouldn't want any one to suffer from it. I love all our visitors and want you to have a nice trip. Dang, where did that come from?

C'mon TCD. We have the same thing but it's different. There are some State Parks that were built by the CCC. Highlands Hammock is one.

That's note entirely true. If you register it as rebuilt salvage, you can get a tag for it. I had a friend that bought another friends totalled trailer from the insurance company and that's what he did. Wish you the best of luck. Giving up camping sucks. -
as good as the fishing was in Jan it sucks now
Sensei replied to TnBob's topic in Fishing/Boating at the Fort and Beyond
I sure hope that I can fish with you at the Fort one day tnbob. I think we will have a great time. BTW, I haven't been doing so good lately myself. Gonna take the granddaughters fishing Monday though. Gonna be one of the highlights of my life I'm sure. -
Not very nice. Think about what you saiid. I would never jeapordize the safety of a child. Good Lord, TC put the gun back in the holster. We're on the same team here. Also, never said I would relocate a snake at the Fort did I? I have thousands of acres to relocate them within 10 minutes of the Fort and would never put a dangerous snake where it would come in contact with a child. To me, children are the most important things around us. Also, veiled threats aren't needed. I thought we were all Fiends. Still would like to meet you someday. I think you'll find I'm not so bad. And I will protect

I'm not a very good baker but I'm going to try this bread. Sounds like even I could do it. Thanks.
-
Well Jen. At least you tried. I sure wish that I could have been there. There wouldn't have been any vote or argument. I would have just taken the snake and relocated it whether anyone liked it or not. Same goes for the rattler. I've done this in the past when a group of people were surrounding a snake. That's one of the reasons I try to educate people about the snakes we have in Florida. It lets people make more informed decisions when they see one so hopefully the snake doesn't end up dead. I'm really surprised that Disney doesn't educate their so called pest management CM's any better. Inte

That's not a juvenile Eastern Diamondback. That either a juvenile Yellow Rat Snake or a Corn Snake, both very beneficial. Hard to say as they are very similar when hatched. Look at the eye. It has a round pupil. Rattlesnakes have an elliptical pupil. Also, the coloring and patterning are wrong for a rattlesnake. Juvenile rattlesnakes are born with the diamonback pattern and are fully armed. Good on you for not wanting it killed. It's a shame though that the pest control CM didn't know any better. Maybe Disney should hire me to be their snake handler. This is a juvenile Eastern Diamonback. Ba

And by the way, thanks for the TR Lizzy73. I haven't seen any campsites in Alabama so this is appreciated. And yes, your girls are cute.

I'll post it in the morning when I've got more time.

Don't forget you said that Yankee girl.:rofl2:

I try to buy 4 or 5 bags of 21-25 shrimp when they go on sale at Publix. Also buy smoked sausage when on sale and freeze it. Then all I have to get is corn and red potatoes and I've got "Low Country Boil". Love that stuff. It seems every time we go camping with family, that's what they ask me to fix. I also make Jambalaya a day or so before leaving on a camping trip. Takes longer to make, but is wonderful when reheated. If anyone is interested, I can put the recipes for both in this thread.

Fort Desoto is very nice but is a bit tight for larger rigs. Also, it isn't a state park, it's a county park so the State DEP doesn't get any of the funds that I know of. I think that's what has kept Ft. Desoto somewhat immune from the State's finance problems as of late. Also even with the 14 day limit at State parks, it's still very difficult to get a campsite at most of them from October to May due to our northern visitors (note, I'm being kind). They sit up north and make their reservations up to a year in advance and completely plug up the system for the rest of us. They've got their camp
