  1. On our last trip, the guy at the site across from me had a Mule and mentioned to me that he had been told twice by security that he wasn't allowed to use it. However, I did see him driving it a few times after that so I guess he wasn't too concerned about any consequences if he kept driving it.
  2. If your first post is any indication, this is going to be a GREAT trip report. Can't wait to hear all about it.
  3. The end of this report means the beginning of the next one will follow shortly... TCD mentioned he has another trip report in the wings once he's done this one
  4. The attention to detail in AK is amazing. I am in awe everytime I go there
  5. I didn't realize how much I missed reading the TCD trip reports until I read through these 4 pages  Here's hoping this is an extra long report and it sounds like there will be another one following it.. Woo Hoo
  6. I've got a different view but I'm guessing it has more to do with me than the resort itself :argh: Our balcony overlooked the pool near the bar and we could see the lake as well. The room was very nice and the themeing is great but what I didn't like was that the "outdoor" space was limited and I felt cooped up even when I left the room. I had to walk a long corridor and then take the elevator to the ground floor before being able to get outdoors. I like to get outdoors and walk around the resort grounds and take everything in. Wilderness Lodge didn't seem to have that... just one massiv
  7. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. We have a 24 night reservation for August so I was hoping to get a site with afternoon shade as we're a family that likes to hit the parks early and then return around noon or shortly after. My wife likes the 1300 loop so I've got a list of 5 or 6 sites there that should work. I'll be sure to use all the sugggestions here and see how it works out.
  8. That sounds great but to be honest, leaving the cold of Canada in January to scout sites at Fort Wilderness wasn't all that bad!! Thanks for your suggestions.
  9. When I was at FW in January I did some scouting for our August trip looking for sites that had trees which blocked a lot of the afternoon sun. I compiled a list of sites from 4 loops which we like but now I need some advice with the request I'll fax in from others who have requested specific sites rather than a loop. Should I include a list of 5 or 6 sites that comprise different loops or would it be better to list 5 or 6 sites within the same loop? How have others done it and what have your results been? If you include a list of sites, do you normally get one of them? Thanks for any advi
  10. From the Disney World Passholder site... "Book your stay online now or call (407) 939-7414? or your Travel Agent and ask for booking code QT9."
  11. Disney sure doesn't "thank" AP holders the way they used to. It wasn't that long ago (maybe 5 years) that I'm almost positive the AP discount on campsites was in the neighborhood of 35%. For the last 3-4 years, it has been in the 10%-15% range. I've got an AAA discount for August that worked out to 18% off... others have reported that they have been able to use the general public discounts of 15% on campsites within the last few months. Our 4 APs are over $2K... I guess I'm just thinking a little customer appreciation would be nice :rofl2: For anyone that wasn't able to secure some other
  12. We have stayed at this campground twice on our way to FW. The location is great for an overnight stop... about 2 minutes from I95 just north of the 295 bypass around Richmond. We found the work campers to be very friendly and the campground well maintained. I would definitely recommend this location as an overnight stop or for anyone visiting the Richmond area. As a side note, we were told that the owners of the campground also own American Heritage RV Park in Williamsburg, VA. We have stayed at American Heritage also and thought it was great. According to Trailer Life, it is the highest
  13. MagicBus, you nailed it from my point of view. When we visit WDW, it is a vacation for us and we usually stay 3 to 4 weeks. We have a 3,000 mile round trip so weekend visits are out of the question for us and truthfully, I wouldn't pay that rate for a weekend, as others have said. When looking at it from the "vacation" perspective, it's just part of the total cost. I have always been able to get some type of discount and this August I have a premium site booked and most of our 25 nights are $60-$63 and the other nights $83 to $86. We have vacationed in Lake George, NY, Outer Banks, NC, an
  14. Norm, like you, we have a 1 year age difference with our children. When they were that age the schedule you have with 2 full days in a row and then the morning of the 3rd day would have been too much for them. We found that we could do a full day and possibly part of the next day, but that was our limit. The kids were tired and either needed to rest or just have some down time around FW. At that age, there were times they just wanted to go swimming or to the playground rather than go to any park >:D Every child is different and you obviously know the limits of yours, but I just wanted
  15. I reserved a cart from Tee Time last week for 23 days in August. The total price was $470. That averages about $20.44 per day or less than a 1/3 of the cost if renting from Disney. Kenny is the man... both in price and service!!
  16. That was the case in one of the threads but in others I also got the impression this person was anti-FW. I started to wonder why all the negativity... did they have a bad experience renting from someone? Who knows what the reason is. They also mentioned in a number of posts to check out resort photos at allears.net, so maybe it's someone trying to direct some traffic that way.
