Good overnight places between FL and NY
echo11 replied to fortpartyof4's topic in Camping To and From the Fort
Bibbidi- Although I am not the original poster, this is great! Thanks for taking the time to post your "list". I ran it off and will keep for future reference. Echo11 -
We arrived at Holiday Cove yesterday. It is a very nice camp "resort". The whole place is very well maintained. The sites are privately owned. The sites all have pavers and the roads are paved. So it is very clean. We have a site that backs the marina. We watched the egrets and herons as we set up. This seems to be considered off season and it is very quiet. Most of the owners of the sites have enhanced the landscaping and their stes. We rode our bikes to Anna Marie Island this morning which is 3/4 of a mile away. Ate lunch at a great outside fish market/ restaurant 1/2 mile away.

We just left on our trip this morning. We arrive at the Fort on Sun for a week. When we leave we are going to Holiday Cove for 3 nights. We haven't been there before. We will let you know what we think. Echo11

echo11 replied to echo11's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
Thanks for the suggestions- It sounds like I-4 will work for us. echo11 -
We start out on our trip to the Fort on Weds! Our last night before arriving at the Fort will in in St. Augustine, FL on Sat. night. On Sunday morning (4/22) we will be leaving St. Augustine and traveling to the Fort for a week. We would like suggestions as to the best route to take on a Sunday. Should we avoid Orlando? Thanks- Echo11

Testing Photobucket.com. Having trouble posting photos. Here's a picture of our dog Echo. We will be visiting the Fort in a week!

echo11 replied to BradyBzLyn...Mo's topic in WDW and Disney Park Discussions
Wow- that was a fast answer! Thanks! We have had so much trouble with our wireless router/ modem and Verizon at home that we would not want to bring it with us. Any suggestions for brand/ type to purchase to bring with us?- 57 replies

Free WiFi expanding at Walt Disney World Resorts
echo11 replied to BradyBzLyn...Mo's topic in WDW and Disney Park Discussions
We will be bringing an ipad with us. If we are lucky and able to get the WDWs cable modem, how does that work with the ipad? Will we need a special cable to attach the ipad to the modem? We have wireless at home. Unlike a computer, the ipad doesn't seem to have a way to connect a cable. So, we are unsure how that works? If we do need to pick up something, we would rather get it before we leave for our trip. Will we need anything special? Thanks! Echo11- 57 replies

Are the Mosquitoes Biting at the Fort right now?
echo11 replied to cunwdw's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
When do the yellow flies arrive? We are not familiar with them. Do they bite? Does bug spray work? Thanks. Echo11 -
Lou, You will get to meet him in a few weeks! We arrive on April 22nd. We are looking forward to meeting you.

Here's a picture of Echo. He's an 8 1/2 year old, 22 lbs., Tibetan Terrier. He's very sweet but very sound sensitive.

Lou, I have not been ignoring your request. I have been trying to post a photo of our dog without success. I have asked for help on the tech issues board and have now have a PM in to Auburn Jen as suggested. We will keep trying! Echo11

I will try to post a photo of our dog Echo later. I haven't posted a photo yet- so will have to figure out how to do it.

Thundershirts- it really depends on the dog. Also, it has to be on tight enough. It does seem to help our dog some. We have tried some herbal holistic remedies. We do find rescue remedy helps. Also we have started giving him Anxitane- it is an amino acid, l- theanine that is supposed to help with anxiety. It has seemed to make a difference. As suggested we will try for 526/28 or /30. Thanks again for the help! Echo11

Thanks for the 500 loop site suggestions. Tom, Which premium loop would you recommend for being quieter than 500? Lou suggested the 900 loop- but it seems much further away. We would like to be able to walk to Trails End, Marina, etc. Or is this not possible? We will run the A/C, fan, TV and put a thundershirt on our dog to hep with his anxiety. Thanks again for all the help!!!! Echo11

We will not have a GC. We will have bikes with us. Although being able to check out sites before picking one does sound like the way to go, we doubt the Fort would allow us to drive our RV around the property to decide on a site. Until we hook up and settle in, we won't know if we will be able to leave the dog for very long periods. So, we would like to be in walking distance of Trails End, marina, etc. We would like to be able to walk over, pick up dinner and bring it back to the RV. It seems the fireworks noise would be about the same in any of the premium loops. I know distances on ma

Hi Lou, Thanks for your response! We are hoping to be able to meet you when we are at the Fort. Most of the fiends that had responded seemed to like the 500 loop. We have never camped at the Fort before and are not that familiar with the loops. As mentioned, I have a very noise sensitive dog. I am planning to run the A/C and a fan to try to provide background noise during the fireworks. As far as the rest of the time, if possible, we would just like a location that would be quieter with less activity and less foot traffic. We know you are very familiar with the Fort and we would take yo

Hi, I wanted to again thank everyone for the help I received here in the beginning of the year. We were originally not sure about camping at the Fort. We have a very noise sensitive dog. Based on advice received on the forum we went ahead and did book a spot. We asked for the 500 loop- an outer site, hopefully a quieter location. I am hopng for more suggestions- I know they don't really take requests, but I thought on the letter that I will fax 5 days before our arrival, that I would mention some of the numbered sites in the 500 loop. Are some sites quieter or more set back than others?

Hi, I looked into Anastasia SP. It did look nice! Unfortunately, it is fully booked for the day we want. We check into the Fort on a Sun and would need a Saturday overnight in April. We would also prefer a FHU, if possible. I have seen some favorable comments on North Beach Camp Resort, also in St. Augustine. Although, I did see mention of ants in a couple of reviews and I don't want to deal with ants or bugs! It doesn't have to be in St. Augustine. It was just on the way we were going. We would like to be within 2 hours or less of the Fort. Any thoughts? Thanks- Echo11

Thanks for the suggestion!

On our way to the Fort, we are interested in staying overnight in St. Augustine. The next morning, after food shopping, we will have a short drive to the Fort. Is anyone familiar with Stagecoach RV resort? They get good reviews on rvparkreviews.com, but their website is down. Any other suggestions? Thanks- Echo11

Hi, We want to thank all the fiends that so willingly helped us with the fireworks noise discussion, our reservations have been made! We will be in a premium loop for 7 nights- April 22-29. We are super excited! It's been 19 years since we were to WDW. This will be our first time camping and our first long trip! We are new to rving. We are driving from MA and are now busy working out our overnight stops. We are really enjoying the process. We have started to count down the days! Again thanks for all the input. We originally thought, due to our dog's noise sensitivities, that it would no

TCD- Great info about google earth and distances. I was not aware of the feature to measure distances. It is very helpful. Thanks for pointing it out and giving examples! Echo

Really appreciate all the responses. Based on the feedback we have received here, we will ask for a premium loop- hopefully loop 500) with a request for a quiet location. We haven't made our reservations yet. We have decided on 7 nights and will probably book for the end of April. Any other thoughts or tips are greatly appreciated! Thanks! Echo
