  1. Good Morning! I thought I would start our day with a couple of Fort souvenirs that we like to look at but they aren’t good coffee mugs. They are pretty poor quality. They are too heavy, don’t keep your coffee hot very long, and if you look closely the logo has melted in the dishwasher. However, they remind us of the good ole days and make us wish for a simpler life, you know, the way it was back when. That is what we like about The Fort. It makes life simple again. For that short period of time we are there life slows down and we get to enjoy the simple things we have lost.
  2. I will say it always irked me how much my wife wanted pictures, now I can appreciate her insistence. Thanks for reading along!
  3. We used one on our popup which weighs #3250. However, one late night we were parked on a slight slant and I forgot to chock the other wheels very well and camper shifted and rolled enough that it bent the BAL. That SPUT (Stupid Pop Up Trick) was scary and expensive as it ruined our BAL. So chock the other wheel very well. We are back to Lynx Levelers. A Sam's Club insulated bag works well for storage.
  4. It is great to share life experiences here on FF. We started in a tent, then a popup. We camp about once per month April to October. We have it a little easier getting to The Fort and I hope we can make it an every year trip, but it is about every other year. Living in Middle TN we can get to many states to camp fairly easily and try to go out of state at least once per season. So far our boys continue to love to camp and don't see it as taking them away from their social life. I hope to hold on to that a while longer. Thanks for reading along. Maybe we can make a GG up your way som
  5. The boys are 6 and 4 in that picture. Not their first trip to Disney but it was their first to The Fort. My advice to you is take lots of pictures. I have really enjoyed looking at them. They boys are shocked too when they see them.
  6. One thing about writing this TR is it has gotten me to look back at our old pictures. I am so glad we chose to spend our time with our boys this way. I am also glad my wife forced me to take pictures now.
  7. Thank you all for reading along and the encouraging words to keep it going! I hope the coming posts don't disappoint. This is tough for someone who prefers numbers to writing. Also, please excuse my poor grammar as I come to FF to get away from the proof reading I have to frequently do at work.
  8. Leaving is the worst! Glad you got in without trouble. Be careful traveling home.
  9. Not since they upgraded the loop so things have probably changed. I loved that area when we stayed there, it was close to everything. The noise from the campfire is real but if you are like us you aren't going to bed until after it is over anyway.
  10. Welcome! Sorry we are going to miss each other. I hope you enjoy your trip and getting to know folks here on the boards.
  11. I thought I would bring back one of my favorite ways of starting a trip report by highlighting each morning some of my favorite Disney coffee mugs I have collected through the years. Some will be repeats from the past and some will be new. This one just makes me happy and I wanted to start with it. As the title suggests this trip/pre-trip report will commemorate our 10th anniversary visiting the Fort. My first and our family’s first visit to The Fort was in the summer of 2006. We had just bought our pop up in October of 05’ and some friends wh
  12. We check in on the 22nd, how long are you there? We should be in the 200 loop we will post our site in the site thread. We have been to The Fort several times at Spring Break and Easter but I don't remember a cart parade. However the Easter activities are pretty good. It is usually very full.
  13. Welcome! You will love reading about the Fort here.
  14. It would be typical of me to forget the Power cord for sure. I can't let my wife read this or I will never hear the end of it.
  15. So if I take a router and one CAT5 cable, will the modem come with the COAX? In other words what cabling should I bring to hook up to the cable modem and how will that work if I am using the cable TV, do they supply a splitter?
  16. TnBob goes thru Birmingham. Search for his posts, he has described his route in detail on here before. I always go thru Atlanta working to time it well. I have been successful more times than not.
  17. The last time I ate there the waitress dropped a whole thing of salsa on me. The food was good but they didn't even comp my appetizer and I had to walk around the park all day with a stained shirt.
  18. What a great picture for your second post. Welcome! Was it taken today?
  19. I too have seen many small TT and Hybrids in the 2000 loop.
  20. Wow, I literally ordered and received my MB last week and purple wasn't an option! I am bummed.
  21. We would typically drive no more than 2 - 3 hours for Friday-Saturday-Sunday morning stay. That is with the pop up. The set up time usually made a late Friday arrival very difficult. We only did a single one night stay in 10 years. We would never set up the screen room unless we were on a week long stay. We will changing over to a motorhome in a couple of weeks will make a one night stay even with a two hour drive more likely.
