  1. Sunday morning we had a lazy and cool morning with everyone eating breakfast as they woke up. We had a breakfast that was a caserole in the crockpot of eggs, hasbrowns, sausage, cheese, and I put bacon on mine too. The time came where we were all fed and we needed to make it down to the overlook to begin our march into the Canyon. We also wanted to see if we could find the GeoCache the park had set up. There is one in every GA State Park. There are lot of pictures here and I will try to put them in the order I took them so you can see how our trek progressed. The first leg of the trek took us
  2. Well it is 600 down and 600 up, the down was easy the back up not so much. However it wasn't that bad as there were plenty of stopping places. It is a play on words as there were Water Falls, Fall Weather, and yes a few falls because the rocks were slippery and few kids found the water. I too fell while taking a ride on the ripstik. My wife cooked the chicken in the crockpot the day before we left and then used it in the tortillas and put them on the griddle. Easy, peasy, lemon squeezy. The park is in the Northwest corner. It is on the western edge of Lookout Mountain. If you wanted t
  3. Great job ED! Thanks for all the pictures Rita. What an accomplishment.
  4. I don't want to sound like a spokesperson for the GA State Park System, but this was one of my favorite parks of all time. The place was well kept, the bathhouses were very clean, the sites were big and level and had nice grills. You will see as this trip report unfolds the views are breathtaking, the trails are well maintained and there is a lot to do at this park. The weather was perfect, Sunny and mid 70's during the day and low 40's at night to boot. After setting up and eating lunch we thought we would walk down to the interpretive center. Here is a picture of the path leading from the
  5. Just wait, you aint seen nothin' yet! Thanks for reading, more is coming. I have never seen anything occupy 7 kids from 1st-8th grade the way these hammocks did. They had a blast. As you will see as the days went on the foliage became amazing! It was the perfect time to visit. Dave, your TR post got me going. When I saw yours at DC I think I told INC our friends had the same camper. They have three kids and usually a tag along and the bunks upfront. He is an accountant like you. You guys must think alike. Just keep reading you will see some great fall pixs. We saw those on the map
  6. Much Like DaveInTn we headed out for Fall Break last weekend as our kids had Monday and Tuesday off from school. We packed up on Friday night and left out early Saturday Morning. The drive from Nashville to Cloudland Canyon State Park in GA is along the same route to Disney for us. Down I-24 and across Monteagle Mountain. While some might not think it is much of a Mountain, the runaway ramps always make me think there must be something to worry about. We arrived mid morning and began to set up. Cloudland Canyon has two campgrounds, one on the East rim where the bulk of the activity in p
  7. Turns out they began when we were there in June... Maybe not their truck but I bet it looked a lot like this.
  8. Enjoying the report! We are never fortunate enough to have time off at Halloween so keep the pictures coming. I have the SOTMK card you need, PM me if you still need it. You have probably noticed my Avatar is one of the cards. BTW were there any new portals in Future World or New Fantasyland?
  9. Okay that wasn't your hand in the Dolly pop picture, who was brave enough to hold the goods?
  10. Nice family trip. Glad you made it home safe! Happy B-day to Gwen.
  11. Didn't make it on page 1 (I hate that working thing) but at least I am reading again and I beat DAVE!!! Congrats to twin #1 and your drawing skills have improved mightily I must say.
  12. Enjoyed your report, it has convinced us to try it someday. You have a knack for this writing thing. Can't wait to hear about Christmas at the Fort.
  13. Awesome looking place. That looks like a place I would like to go. Great weather, sorry we missed you at Defeated Creek.
  14. Have a great trip and play some tether ball it isn't to far away!!
  15. I think the one by the Honey I Shrunk the Kids Playground is called the Studio Catering Company, but I could be wrong. The place I am thinking about is between Indiana Jones and Star Wars. They have a great burger for fairly cheap by Disney Standards. The pretzel dog and a beer was awesome ate it twice last trip. The caesar chicken wrap there is good too.
  16. These fancy burgers are nice but the best deal is th Angus Onionstraw Burger at the Backlot Express is one of my favorites. Thanks to a TCD TR my favorite dog is the pretzel dog at Min and Bill's Dockside Diner also at HS.
  17. Our first trip was in July of 2006, we had gotten our camper in October the year before. We had been to Disney in March of 2005 at the All Star Movies. Our new found camping friends called and asked my wife if we wanted to camp at Disney with them. Even though we had just been, the idea combined two of our favorite activities, so we jumped at the chance. When we returned I had the Fort bug. I searched the internet and found the Fiends at another place back then, that kept my interest in the Fort rolling. Finally last year we returned to Fort three times spending a total of a month there.
  18. This is the most uplifting, glass half full post I have ever read! Thank you for the perspective. Our last trip was two weeks long and we only got two days of no rain. We took the moto a rainy day at Disney is better than a dry day at home. I wish I had had this post it would have made our outlook even better. Now that there is funny I don't care who you are... Even funnier that it followed such an uplifting post.
  19. Great report Dave, I can't wait to see how the rest of the trip turned out.
  20. Thanks Tim weren't you in Murfreesboro at one time? (Just living up to my tag) We have a non sewer site, nothing else was available, do you know if they have those on the West rim? I have tried to call them several times and was unable to reach anyone. I plan on trying again on Monday.
  21. Hey Carol, we are going down here late in October. Any hints on how to get a good campsite? What was your impression of the East Rim? The West Rim looks better to me. Your thoughts appreciated. Looking forward to seeing you at Defeated Creek next week.
  22. Good thought, I would just need to break her Epcot Flower and Garden mug. No need to waste any of the other fine china.
  23. You would think after 30+ days at the Fort and another week in a timeshare this past year, I would have had enough of the place. We swore we weren't going back for several years so we would visit other places, but I don't think I have the "Fort"itude to wait that long. Pray for strength for me or that my family will get the bug again like I am.
