  1. Crab Island is a lot of fun. It's smart to wait because you want a pretty day. In the past, there was an inflatable slide and burger stand... Pretty cool to wade over and have a burger. I heard they were thinking about banning the overnight structures though. I hope they don't. There's a guy who drives a little boat around and sells ice cream. Z thinks that's super cool. We've been lucky enough to always share a boat with friends.
  2. You're a bit of a drive from Seaside, but you could check it out. There's The Track with some small rides and go carts. Z loves to ride shotgun. Eat at the Crab Trap for sure. There's a big playground and bar on the beach, so we actually like for there to be a bit of a wait. The food is good, but you obviously pay a premium for location. Honestly, we spend most of our time on the beach!
  3. Do you know what part of Destin? Most of my favorite things are towards or on 30a. In Destin, there are the beaches obviously. We like to eat at meal on the water at the Crab Trap. It's pricey. Renting a pontoon and heading out to Crab Island (really a sand bar) where lots of boats anchor is a fun day. Who will be in your group? That will help me with more ideas.
  4. I know we had another thread like this at one point, but let's start a new one. For us.... Laying in a hammock Taking Z on a playground tour where he spends time at each one Watching wishes from the beach I'm leaving lots of our favorites off because it's your turn....
  5. My friend tried, but it was one of the last days, and they were sold out. They still went around and found some of the eggs.
  6. The Fort is the only Disney resort I remember from my childhood. We stayed at others, but they didn't stick out to me. A recent memory that I love is Ms. Josie teaching Z to hula hoop. He'd been trying for awhile, and she was so patient with him. He was beaming ear to ear.
  7. I wasn't being condescending. I was being real. I'm aware of what was at River Country. I would love to see it reopen, but it's not happening. Time to move on. Disney is also a business with classes of resorts. Each resort has about the same features. I would say the exception is Stormalong Bay. The fact is that they aren't going to put better features in a campground when we pay Value prices or usually less. It doesn't make good business sense. As far as the Fort if the 70s, I can't comment on that as I was born in 1979. I enjoyed the Fort of the 80s as a kid. I still enjoy t
  8. So because the Fort had a water park next to it that closed 15 years ago, the people who run WDW should decide that the Fort gets a lazy river even though only 2 of the deluxe resorts have one, and they share it. That doesn't even make sense. And if River Country did open, people would be complaining about the extra traffic in the Fort.
