  1. TCD, Back in 2005 we were picked to be family of the day at Epcot!!!! (We ALWAYS do rope drop at all of the parks.) We were waiting in line at the ticket turnstiles and a cast member approached us and began talking to us. He asked how many we had in our party and we told him there were four of us. He then asked us if we would like to be the family of the day!!!!! Of course we did! He brought us into the park and to the test track car that was parked behind Spaceship Earth. (He told us they only look for a family of four or smaller, because that is all the car will hold.) At park opening our dr
  2. Just got caught up and looking forward to more!! I like your Mickey light, the base is different from others that I have seen......very nice! Heidi
  3. Another TCD trip report!!!!!! Yippee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hey, I made the first page!!!!!
  4. Judy, What wonderful trip report!!!! I absolutely LOVE all the pictures that you have shared of Disneyland!!!!! They are bringing back wonderful memories for me. We went to DL in 2009, sadly, I have no pictures from the trip. Before we arrived for our week long disneyland trip we had gone to Yosemite National Park, where some jerk stole my camera. It was a vacation of a lifetime, with no pictures! I can tell you that when my husband and kids get home tonight, we are all going to look at your pictures together!!! Great memories, thanks again! Heidi
  5. TCD, I am sitting in the chemo chair reading the end of your report. How about that........your down in Florida typing up/posting your report and here I am in NH, getting chemo reading your report! Pretty cool!!! Loved all the pictures!! Loved the whole report!!! Sad to see it end..........but looking forward to the next one!!! Heidi
  6. Carol, Thanks for the info and link. I so hope it isnt true! We have had so many good times over the years looking for/finding paintbrushes. I wonder how long after 1997 they continued to have brushes out for the whitewashing. My guys were 1 and 4 back in 97, I think it was probably one or two years later that we started going over to Tom Sawyers. I dont recall that ever being offered. I bet it was a fun activity for the kids. Thanks for sharing. Heidi
  7. TCD, I laughed right out loud when reading about the towels and you turning them into lost and found. Now I find out that you really didn't.....well, I had a good laugh anyway!! I have been guilty of spreading out a towel on a bench before the campfire sing-along. Of course, I always used an old towel, in case someone "turned them into lost and found" for me!!!! Looking forward to the next update, but sad it will be the last.............. Hopefully, you have another trip report to post soon. I have chemo tomorrow and quite honestly, your trip reports, as well as others here, truly brighten my
  8. Oh no, I hope that report was wrong!!!!! Can I ask where you heard that? I have never heard of, or seen a pile of painbrushes to whitewash the fence with, only the ones to find to turn in for a fast pass! You would NEVER be able to paint with those. The bristles have been dipped in paint and are completely stiff. Heidi
  9. TCD, No its no prank.......the cast members hide them right before opening. I am not sure of the exact amount, but I think is varies between 5-7. One thing I know for sure is that they are probably all found within five minutes of the raft docking at the island. So, if you want a chance you NEED to be on the first raft and be ready to RUN!! What our family does is, the four of us split up and go in different directions. Course, we didnt do that when the boys were younger, we would go in teams of two. Even with us spltting up on this last trip, we would only find one between the four of us each
  10. Loved the update!! Bravo to Trevor for turning in the pin!!! So neat that he was given gifts for his thoughtful gesture. When my now 15 year old son was five, he lost a cherished pin...........lots of tears over that one..... You mentioned going to Tom Sawyers to look for a painbrush......did you find one?? This has been a BIG thing for my boys over the years. We have found many, many paintbrushes. On our August trip, we were there for close to two weeks. We did rope drop at the MK on three of the days. On all three days we were in position to get on the first raft of the day to Tom Sawyers wh
  11. TCD, Great update!!! Loved, all the resolutions, especially the "swim to Discovery Island".........that will be an epic trip report for sure!!!!! I was pretty surprised to see how big the crowd was on the beach.....WOW!!!! Feeling sad that this trip report is almost over......... Heidi
  12. TCD, I tried to post a couple of days ago and my post dissappeared...........bummer. As always really enjoying your report. You posted a picture of the tennis courts. My boys make good use of those when we are at the fort. Its funny, as they rarely play at home, but when we are at the fort they will play for hours. You have mentioned the GREAT weather multiple times in your report.........I am jealous.........its cold here in NH! I LOVED the part of the report that included the twins adventures on their big night out. One of the things that I so enjoy about your reports, is not only reading ab
  13. Nicki, I totally agree with you, each place we have been to is so special in its own right!!! The United States is so amazing!!! However, we all had our favorite spots. Some places that we have visited like Yosemite, The Grand Canyon, Bryce, and Zion to name a few, we cant wait to return to. (Fort Wilderness too!!!!) Other places like, Yellowstone, Mesa Verde,The Badlands, we truly enjoyed, but dont have a strong desire to go back to for at least ten years. So, we most definetly have our favorites, and those are places that we want to return to sooner rather than later. As a side note, I am go
  14. Just had to chime in about Yosemite!!!! We have been to most of the places you have listed, plus we took a swing up to Yellowstone, Devils Tower, Mount Rushmore and the Badlands.......BUT Yosemite was by far our favorite........words cannot describe the view from Glacier Point and Tunnel View......just unbelievable!!!!!! Nicki, Still loving this trip report! Heidi
  15. TCD, Finally caught up! Great report, as always! looking forward to more! Heidi
  16. Stef, I don't know much about the Zac Brown band, but I am REALLY enjoing this trip report!!!!! Heidi
  17. Another comment......I agree about the Redwoods, pictures just dont show how big they really are. Two summers ago we went to Sequoia National Park and were blown away by the sheer size of the giants. However, if we didnt have one of the kids in the pictures for comparison, you couldnt tell how immense they were. We too had our worst ranger expeience at a cave. It was Crystal Cave at Sequoia. It was terrible from start to finish. First you had to make a fairly strenous hike to get down to the cave. Unfortunately, my husband twisted his ankle about halfway down and never made it to the cave. The
  18. Loving this trip report! The pictures of Glacier were amazing!!!! Did you spend two days there? That is pretty much what I have planned as well. Did you find that was enough time to see the major sights. I'd like to stay longer, but we have many other places to visit too! Olympia National Park wasnt on our list, but after seeing you pics, it makes me want to add it on! Heidi
  19. Dave, Loved the trip report from start to finish! I have to say that I feel a bit sad that it is all over................................ I hope you do a report on the gathering at Stone Mountain. If i remember correcty you did a report on the trip last year., which I enjoyed very much! Heidi

  21. TCD, After the holidays wind down and I am feeling well, I'll see if I can find that photo. I think about that brahma bull everytime I go into the petting farm, even though it was so MANY years ago!!!! I do remember though that he was there for a few trips, then he was gone. Great update and I really enjoyed the Sea World pics. We havent been there since 2006. We keep saying we need to go back, if not for anything else but to ride the new roller coaster. We LOVED the Kracken coaster! I cant get over how HUGE that Santa is!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!! Looking forward to the next one! Heidi

  23. TCD, great update! Enjoyed the pics of the petting farm/horse barn. I miss the animals that used to make the petting farm fun! I actually have a picture of myself when I was 7 or 8 (36-37 years ago!) petting a brama bull........Disney would never let that happen anymore!!! Hey, my husband and I, like you and Mrs. TCD will be celebrating our 25th on our next anniversary too!!!! Heidi
  24. rebelstand, You made a mention of going to Glacier National Park......did you get there?? If so, I am VERY excited to read all about it and perhaps ask some quesions and get your thoughts on the park. We are planning a trip out west in August and Glacier will be our first stop. I went as a kid, but dont have many memories of it. The pictures I have seen are amazing though. Heidi
  25. TCD, Man, you guys can sure pack A LOT into one day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sounds like you had the most PERFECT Thanksgiving Day from start to finish!!! Thats quite a crowd that gathered for your family Thanksgiving dinner!!!! How many turkeys does it take to feed everybody? So glad you got to ride on the double decker bus, what an awesome way to end the day! Heidi
