  1. Edited to add: Sorry, just realizing that this is a thread for autism. Hi!! I'm sorta, but not really, new here. Life happens and have not had time for my Disney obsessions. I'm planning our next trip for the end of May/beginning of June. I just wanted to say we have a 7 year old daughter in a wheelchair. She has a very rare neurological condition, MLD. She absolutely loves all things Disney and FW is the perfect place for us to stay with her. We've navigated the fort and disney for many years with a wheelchair. Her older brother, that now lives in Heaven, was also in a wheelch
  2. Thank you all so much for the responses. I think I have "re-found" the courage to do it. My 12 year old daughter is very mature and helpful and she can basically take over with the 6 and 2 year old. Lou, I hope I don't have to hunt you down. I'm sure it will be smooth sailing, but so nice to know there will be many helpful people around if the need arises. 11 more days!!!!!! Gotta get packing. Jean
  3. I am coming here with my question because you guys have been so helpful with all of my other questions.... and no one else understands my Disney/FW obsession. Now, this is something I know will ultimately be my decision.... just wondering what you would do. Here's the deal: DH and I and 4 kids have been planning this 13 night FW stay for a few months. Long story short, he can no longer stay that long due to job issues. 8 nights is his max. We decided that the kids and I would do the 13 nights and he would fly home to work for 3 days and fly back. That seemed like a great option 4 months a
  4. We saw this at Walmart too!! I kept going back to it, hoping DD6 would put this on her list for Santa. For some strange reason, she wasn't that interested. I want it for myself!!
  5. Thanks guys for your input. Well, we cleaned it up with just regular carpet cleaner and it all came up pretty good. We now have a little space heater blowing in that spot. But, I will take the advice of CCIntrigue and steam clean with white vinegar tomorrow. Since this is the kids' room, I want to make sure it all comes up. They often sleep on the floor in there. DH thinks he found the source of the leak. We have had our slides out for a few weeks now, and it's been through a few rainstorms. Hard to explain, but the rubbery part along the side of the slide was sort of inverted (therefore
  6. So we go to clean the camper yesterday... we are leaving for FW in 18 days! As I am walking in the bunkroom (part of a slide) I see what looks to me like white mold in the corner. About 12 inches total on the carpet...along the perimeter. ARGH!!!!!! Showed DH and we will deal with it today. Any suggestions? I am thinking the worse... like the carpet will have to come out. I did see Ed's chart, but, unfortunately, I don't think WD40 or duct tape will solve this problem. Any suggestions? Jean
  7. Thanks everybody for the suggestions.... I think I like the idea of the boat to the Contemporary and monorail to GF. A ride on the monorail always make it seems "more fun". This will be a day without DH. So, it will be just be me and the 4 kiddies. Looking forward to all the Christmas decorations and the gingerbread house!!!!
  8. Hi all... Me again. Hate to be a bother, but what is the quickest, easiest way to get to the GF from FW? This will be early afternoon... kids are having tea with Alice. Thanks!!!
  9. How do we get to MK for an 8:00 reservation at Crystal Palace? This is on a day when the MK opens at 9:00. Thanks so much in advance!!!
  10. Denny, I may be a littel "trifle paranoid" as you say, but I am happy to step on the side of caution for the sake of my kids. Fort Wilderness is most definately not Time Square, but all it takes is one lunatic. Could it be possible that lunatics enjoy the fort also? Or go where they are least expected? And I really didn't say my DH would "escort" my DD12 to the CS. I said he would be in the men's CS while they are in the women's... not like he would be waiting outside to "escort" them. :) Have a nice day!!!
  11. I hope I am putting this in the right spot. I am wondering at what age to you allow your kiddies to go to the comfort station alone or with a sibling. We are frequent campers, but it's never been an issue because who cares how they look bumming around the local state parks But, at Disney we may run into bathroom gridlock. My DH suggested allowing our DD12 and DD6 go the comfort station to shower. My reaction was (and still is!!) absolutely, positively not!!! There are crazies everywhere. Even if our campsite is right next to the CS, who knows what could happen. I pretty much have my mi
  12. Shucks!!! I am sure you made someone happy, but it wasn't me.... Just checked and all that is showing is full sites.... someone snatched it up pretty quick!!!
  13. I know, I know. I really should have booked earlier... but we were originally going in November and hubby got a new job and just couldn't take time off then. So, we are working hard to make this time work for us. This will be a real celebration for us... Our baby girl underwent a bone marrow transplant Sept. 09 (she was only 3 months at the time) and is finally healthy enough to be among crowds. And... her siblings have also been anxiously awaiting another trip to Ft. Wilderness. I've prayed for lots of things in my life... I wonder if it is okay to pray for Ft. Wilderness ressies? LOL T
  14. Hi.... Thanks to SCTigercock, I have managed to get the first part of my Christmas reservation. I am still in need of Dec. 20-24... looking for premium. I check everyday... several times. Preferred sites are showing up... but I would hate to have to change my spot a few days before we leave. Two questions: 1. Should I keep trying, or will that time of year just be too difficult to get? 2. If I did reserve the preferred for the last few nights, is there any chance they would just allow me to stay on my premium spot? We SOOO want this to work. Any help?? Jea
