  1. Ali was granted her wish to “see din-eze” not long after she turned 3. This is actually what led me to find “the other place.” I started searching for information on MAW and Disney World and found a great group of people that had either been on or were planning to go on a MAW Disney Trip. They were a wealth of information and I actually ended up knowing more than our Wish Coordinators half the time. This was the first time I had ever heard of Give Kids the World Village. And I admit, at first, I was completely uninterested in staying there. After all, it wasn’t “on property” and I had never b
  2. Thank you. If it taught me anything, it's never wait on the important stuff. If we had waited even a few more months, she wouldn't have been able to be a part of it. And it's nice for my kids to have the memory of their first time at Disney World being there with my mom.
  3. Thanks! Every time I see your siggy, I want to tell you that I had a Border Collie mix named Brady. She died before Ali was born, but Ali's middle name is Brady after her. Howdy! Where about are you? We're just outside of Pittsburgh. She IS quite the little whipper-snarker! Thank you to everyone for reading along! I'm working on the next piece right now.
  4. Yes, Lou we did. We stayed in one of the newer villas over across from Matthew's Boundless Playground.
  5. Thanks guys! I find it almost impossible NOT to smile when I say poopyshit. :rofl2:
  6. A word of explanation on my title. For a very long time, Ali had a severe speech delay (she’s making up for it now ). Now, we’re a bit of a loud-mouth group in my family and expletives do tend to get dropped now and then. So when Ali finally spoke her first word was “shit”. And she’d use it in the proper context. Being her first word, I admit, I didn’t correct her either. I was so glad to hear her say anything. Fast forward, Ali thinks any word related to “potty humor” is hysterical. While we were in Disney, she got sort of moody with all the overwhelming sights and sounds and would
  7. After almost 3 years, I never thought I would do a trip report from my DD’s Wish Trip in 2008. But after reading everyone’s wonderful TR’s and going back thru our pictures to relive our trip, I had the overwhelming urge to try my hand. I know it’s been a while but I hope you will indulge me a little here. So a little background: My daughter Ali was born with a neurological condition called Tuberous Sclerosis. TS is similar Autism in that it is a spectrum disorder. Thankfully, Ali is on the milder end of the spectrum. TS has caused severe seizures since the time she was 5 months old. It was c
  8. What a great trip report!! For what it's worth, I am anti Poncho...PRO PRO PRO COP! And I am going to go on record here and now and say that I would probably buy and faithfully wear a carved ring.
  9. If u dont mind my asking is that Great Wolf Lodge in your picture with your 2 cuties? It looked like the waterpark spot I know so well. My husband was with them for a several years. I heard the just redid the bottom floors , I really wanna go visit and check it out.. Thank you for the nice comments! I dont get many of those around here and I will take all I can get ! lol ------------- WOW! You have good eyes! LOL Yes, that is the Sandusky Ohio Great Wolf Lodge. We were there in April and LOVED it! We're thinking of heading to the Cincinnati one in November.
  10. I'm in! I have a special needs daughter and am crazy in love with dogs and I live in PA. What more could I ask for in a TR? LOL Really though, you have a beautiful family and I think you are lovely...we'd be glad to see more pics of you!
  11. I didn't want everyone to think that I had forgotten you kind offers to help...I just have not had the extra cash to get the shirts. I have picked up some extra hours at work and hope to get a little put aside to do so in the next couple of weeks. Thanks to everyone!!! Misty
  12. Thanks for starting this thread Lou! In 2008, my daughter was granted a Make a Wish trip to Disney World and we were lucky enough to get to stay at GKTW. It's funny because when my daughter was granted the trip, we had asked if we could just stay at one of the WDW resorts because I didn't think a trip to WDW would be the same without being on property. After staying at GKTW, we all wish we could go back. It's truly beyond magical. And it's people like you who make it that way.
  13. I couldn't agree more!!! I have had more than my fair share of having to deal with parents who don't want to pay attention to their kids, but then complain when something goes wrong. Maybe if you turned off your computer/ipad/cell phone etc and paid attention to your kids and where they are and what they are doing, the rest of us wouldn't have to pay for your lack of parenting skills. Ok, rant over. :-X
  14. OMG...I just laughed myself silly. At this point I don't even care if the rumor has any shred of truth to it, this was the funniest thread ever!!! ;D
  15. Ok, so I'm reading a TR on "the other place" ( I know I know...please don't kick me off) but a poster over there said he was riding the boat back to the Fort and the boat Captain pointed out Discovery Island and told them there are plans to open it up again. Could it be??? Anyone hear any rumors?
  16. Woo Hoo!! Your trip report on the other place was the first Fort TR that I ever read so I'm excited to be on board for another one!!! And I'm still waiting to see if you are going to call the fish feeder place.
  17. Yuri did a great job on those pics! I don't know whether to be sad the orange crane isn't there doing work on River Country...or relieved that's it's not there to do demo work. BTW - you gotta wonder about that sign with the rules for the Stump Lump...did they actually have people who were trying to reach the net with body parts OTHER than their hands?
  18. This is always a sad sight. The old main pool: This breaks my heart just a little bit more, everytime I see it. :-[
  19. Almost everyday, I pop on ff.net hoping to spy a TCD report and today I was rewarded!!! WOOHOO!!!
  20. LOL!!! Do it!! They'll probably change the number! Or at least remove the sticker from the feeder. :rofl3: :rofl2:
  21. Great Job! You have earned your TCD Junior Deputy Badge! I wonder what will happen if they get a few more calls about the Fish Feeder? Especially if KFK calls all hopped up on her prescription medication? Thanks! I will wear my Deputy Badge with pride!! If KFK is going to call I think she should record the conversation for all fiends to hear! LOL
  22. Ok, so I was nosy and called the fish feeder place. I talked to a nice gentleman who told me there are a total of 4 fish feeders on Disney Property. The solar panel on top charges a little battery that runs a timer. When it's time, a little wheel spins and dispenses the food. It's "floating catfish food" pellets. I didn't ask where else the feeders are because by the time I got to that I think he was starting to think I was either a) just plain crazy or some kind of fish spy. So there you have it!
