I was scheduled to be at the Fort this week through the 6th of October. Last week I cancelled week one. I just asked my travel agent, who spent almost 6 hours on the phone with Disney mostly on hold, and she asked the question for me. "When might Fort Wilderness be available?" I would take this as unofficial but she told me the campground was not expected to open until the 23rd. I imagine that Disney will do everything it can to restore the campground as quickly as possible.

Arriving the night before "Check-In" / Places to stay

Thanks, I've considered the hotel route and I'm sure you are correct with finding one. I just need to do my research. I really appreciate your reply. -

Thanks for the rest area alternative. I thought about rest areas but it was extremely helpful to see the policy. Also, thanks for the Fort Wilderness policy. I should have been more specific but I wasn't going to try to spend the night there. Even though I did not know the policy I assumed it would not be available until the AM. It was very helpful to see a morning time when I would not be "given the boot." My family will probably travel the day of check in so I would be alone; however, it would be nice to have the camper set when they arrive. They could go to the parks and I could -
Greetings everyone, I'm considering arriving in the WDW/Orlando area the night prior to "Check-in". I'll be towing my camper but I do not necessarily want to stay in a campground and set up only to move the next morning. I'll be traveling I-95 to I-4 and be willing to stay up to an hour or so from the Fort. Does anyone have a recommendation at either a hotel/motel with ample RV Parking or a campground I could pull in and stay connected (5th Wheel). I'm only driving from SC but I don't want to be exhausted when I arrive at the Fort. Two additional questions: (1) If I arrive prior to "C

Yes, I did realize that MNSSHP began in August. That will be great. Let us get out the Halloween decorations. Thanks to all for your answers and comments. -
Scary Halloween Decorations?
DLMickey replied to Megatron's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
Thanks for clarifying that each site is decorated by the individual camper. I guess we will bring some decorations since we will be there for almost a month! This is the first time we will camp at the Fort and we are really looking forward to the experience. We have been campers since the early 2000's and we come to WDW often but this is the first time we have combined the two. I'm predicting it will become a new tradition. -
Scary Halloween Decorations?
DLMickey replied to Megatron's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
When do the campsites decorate for Halloween. Is it only near Halloween or the month of October or is it earlier? We are arriving on September 9 to October 6 and I was just wondering if we should bring some decorations with us.
