Tire Service While at Fort
bdm replied to NurseTK's topic in RV Repairs on the Road, at FW and Elsewhere
I've always said I'll pay a extra for good customer service. That's one reason I stopped flying, zero customer service. Glad to year they treated you well and completely fulfilled your expectations for service. -
We've traveled in the south west, just never by camper we would fly in and visit parks and cities then fly home. Its a 3 day drive from Northern Ky and now days we travel with our 2 year old...

Haven't had the opportunity to camp much of the south west, I believe thats coming in the next few years.

Never been down that but I did go 441 from Gatlinburg to Cherokee WITHOUT the camper just in the truck and that was miserable.

After the holliday week and having pulled our 5er from Ky to SC I'd like to ask what are some of the worst roads you've had to travel down in a RV or towing a TT? For me its still I-40 from Asheville NC to Knoxville Tn. Its steep, narrow, windy, and packed with holiday travelers that just don't care A very close 2nd would be I-75 through Atlanta Ga.. Make sure you have plenty of fuel, and plenty of snacks, you'll be there for a while. 3rd would have to be I-70 out of Denver to Vail also knows as teh Eisenhower pass. Though this is steep its got plenty of travel lanes and isn'

Your favorite WDW area grocery stores?
bdm replied to 2beagle's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
We made a huge miss calculation and were still hooked to our 38' fifth and tried to get into this Publix... DISASTER.. The parking lot is small and very very busy go early in the AM or late in the day avoid weekends.. -
Favorite Campgrounds in Your State
bdm replied to BradyBzLyn...Mo's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
My wife and I stayed there a while back and it was really nice. -
We use a portable room AC, to help during the hottest and most humid days when we camp. It has a drier vent type hose that you run out a window and it works great. We have a fifth wheel with a single AC unit that struggles in the humidity here in the mid west.

Disney Dining Plan Changes for 2017
bdm replied to BradyBzLyn...Mo's topic in Dining Reviews and Information
This seems to be a positive change for my family. We historically get the Basic plan and when eating the quick service for our lunch no one ever gets the dessert but we swap it for soup, or water. Having the two snacks a day would allow a quick snack in the AM and an afternoon snack. This could also reduce the mad rush for tables during the lunch rush as it could extend the window for lunch if the little-ones get that morning snack around 10 or so... -
I'm shocked that the trailer didn't come apart. The amount of force the air has at 140 is crazy. Kudos to these guys for taking on the challenge, I'm just fine at 60 mph with 14,000 extra lbs behind me.

We didn't see them at the lower falls, but we hiked up along the falls and up the river a ways and did see several of them hunting in the river.

I have an extensive Henry collection but that riffle has always been out of reach. I have the Winchester 1892 & 1873 but have yet to secure a 1866. Its on my wish list. My one big wish list gun is a true Sharps Falling Block. I have a Uberti Sharps 1874 but I'd like to own the real thing

My grandfather was a collector of guns, and he got me into collecting so I have more than my fair share. Most are more than 100 years old.

Amateur Radio at the Fort
bdm replied to ftwildernessguy's topic in Hobbies outside of the Fort to do and see
was at WDW in Jan and April both times I had my HT and took it into the park. I monitored the 146.52 (simplex) and scan the 147.3, 145.11, 444.0, 442.5, and WD4WD D-star repeater on 440. I've made several contacts on 146.52, and while using the Disney Linked Repeaters. Made a one contact that was out at Disneyland. Word of warning, when you take a HT into the park be ready to answer question to security. I kept mine in my backpack and had a PPT earbud/mic that worked great. When going around the park cast members will look at you funny with an earbud in and if you are standing -
Yes I've been using Echolink for a few years. Really enjoy it. I purchased a D-STAR radio so thats most of my 2m/70cm communications.

Understand the price thing. As for ups they are powered by 12v DC so instead of using the wall wort plug you could power it from the coach battery.

This is a Michigan State Park in the north west corner of White Fish Bay. We were here the week after Labor Day 2015. As with every Michigan State Park we visited the campgrounds have no water, or sewer at the sites. But did have power!! Upon entering all of the campground you go past a dump station that has fresh water so you can fill and empty your tank before you park. We were at this park for 4 days and it was AMAZING. Now if you go this far north, be sure to bring all the supply's you need as a small gas station is about the only place to get supply's with out driving the hour + to

I couldn't post a picture of all our pets, as my wife is a Vet, and we have 50 acres of land so we have retired goats, sheep, and other critters from petting zoos. But in the hose we have a few cast and these two dogs. Meat Wad - Boxer/Pit and Thurman Murman - Pug The dogs on the way home from the only camping trip they ever went on. They were not big fans of being in the camper And the herd... There's 5 Diesel, Jerry, Louise, Loyd, and Ester

My wife is a Vet so here is her deal with Ticks, as her and I have talked about this a lot since our dogs usually have a few on them from time to time. Frontline and Advantix dont keep ticks off pets, they kill them once they "nest" on the pet. They dont need to bite the pet only be in contact with the skin for a period of time. She also says the apple ceder thing doesn't work from her experience. But does attract fruit flies.

I've worked in the IT industry for 20 years. The below linked product I've used for remote server rooms, quiptment closets, and even in my own house. They work great, easy to manage and setup, and have the ability to text, email or call if something goes out of wack. You can even have it setup a notification every so often and choose what type of information you get on that notification. http://www.temperaturealert.com/Temperature-Alarm.aspx You can find them on Amazon by searching temperature@lert

The last time we traveled to orlando from Northern Ky we didn't have the sun pass on the way down. Got to the first toll booth and neither me or my wife had cash on us. I was lucky to have a check book in the glove box because just before we departed home I wrote a check to the house sitter (we have lots of critters). Just after the toll booth was a service station I needed fuel so after fueling up I went in to get a water and make a water deposit and saw the "Pre Pay" sun pass. Grabbed it and it worked flawless. So next time we travel south, I'm getting online and pre-ordering

I've never really enjoyed it. I think the story runs slow and its not that interactive. Plus I enjoy the challenge of collecting and trading the cards.

Currently I'm using RV Parks its free, no adds or popups and its worked for my family for a while now. It not only shows Parks it shows other RV hotspots, Walmart, Costco, Truck Stops, Cracker Barrel, etc etc etc.... A great advantage is it shows low clearance on the roads. And with a 12' + fifth thats nice info to have.
