  1. We will be there for the Covered Bridge Festival in Oct. think large craft fair. We were there last year for a 3 day weekend the same time and got to go out to dinner with the owners Dick Konoble and his 2 sons, it was a great night and learned alot about the place, can not wait for this year to see them again. We might have to plan a trip there during the summer to see the park in full operation. Who knows that might be a great palce for a Grand Gathering for folks who can not make the Fort all the time, J&D would be a great spot to camp as they have the large pavillion behind some of th
  2. Our troop use to tent camp in the Poconos(Pa) in the month of Feb to do a ski trip and the scout master made sure everyone earned their frost bite patch every winter. Now they got soft and do their ski trip to Tmberline Skie Area( Va or WV) and stay in the large dorms, guess even the scout master is getting old.
  3. Did you have to plow the driveway first, if not you can blame the snow for the lousy park job.
  4. I remeber the last time we were at WDW we saw a bus coming out of a resort road( I think back by the Tree Houses) that must have cut the corner to close or had a car come into his path but it looked like he ran the rear wheels down into a ditch, he was makind a right turn so I guess he was turning to sharp. I always joke saying I like trailers better then motorhomes(or buses) because they bend in the middle. Hey Magi Bus have you ever driven one of the buses that bend in the middle and can you back them up at all?
  5. I remeber Bob Newhart had a comedy routine on a guy training to be a bus driver the 1st thing he did wrong was to pull away from the bus stop to fast his trainer told him the rider will give up to quick you have to go slow so they will try to catch you :rofl2: :rofl2:
  6. I drive for UPS and they have a station set up in the yard to stop to aduyst your mirrors, they have squares painted on the ground that you should be able to see in your mirrors. I agree with the use of mirrors, the training we recieve is unbelievable when new drivers traansfer to the tractor trailers we tell them to just listen and try to remember everything you never know when it will come in handy, it does work. I do love how when you pull into a campground you become the entertainment as everyone watches you back in, I know I have disappoitnted alot of folks when I don' t have a problem, I
  7. Your getting rain but New England is getting ready for a snow storm, hope everyone is ok and stay dry or at least try to.
  8. I agree if you can not back it up you should not own one but remember salesmen will sell you anything look how many sell folks campers with vehicles that should not or can not pull it.
  9. I agree with people getting trained when they purchase, after all in some states you have to take a course to get a motorcycle license. On another note have you ever had to put someone's camper in their site for them, I have 1 friend that at least once a year that i will have to back in for him, really pisses him off because he always says that I make it look easy, he forgets that I back up sometimes20-30 times a night.
  10. J&D is a great campground the best to use for Knoebles plus it's great to walk across the street at night to the ice cream stand. All the sites are level full hook up plus cable some are close to a large pavillion incase you have a large group just make sure you don't park on the grass or put your outdoor mat on the grass that's a BIG NO NO :D
  11. We were in the 800 loop this past 4th of July and did not have any problem, but I drive tractot trailers for work, and our friend was there also and he did fine. We did see a gentleman in a very large mh rub the low lightpost all the way down the side of is coach when he was leaving, never even stoped even with all the noise itr made.
  12. Nice addition to the menu I actually like to eat there plus it has my sons favorite meal PIZZA :rofl2:
  13. I do not know the weight of a golf cart but I would watch your tounge weigt with one loaded in the front like that, don't know if uping the weight bars would help with that issue.
  14. I am calling Gettysburg today so I hope you are ready to let another person check out your new toy :rofl2: :rofl2: :o
  15. We have stayed @ Tropical Palms and thought it was nice, we liked the sites in the back they were larger. Last year we stayed at Thousand Trails as we are members, could have stayed there the whole time but no magic there. For anyone interested you can join Passport America for I think $49 a year and now get sites at Thaousand Trails or any Encore park for half price just not sure what restrictions there, they might vary by park might be worth checking into. The nice thing is you can renew or let membership expire in Passport and rejoin later when the need arises.
  16. Great pictures, thanks, now as long as the wife does not see them she will not be happy till she gets there to see the Flower & Garden show.
  17. I hate to say it but I bet this will be the longest week ever to get thru, congrats and have fun with your new camper
  18. My wife & I met in a campground so yes we plan to retire and travel, the oldest son has made the offer to stay living at home so someone will be there to takes care of things( not that he does any of it now) and the yougest son has offered to keep all my trains with him if he moves out, somehow I get the feeling neither one is moving out. Well that won't be to bad at least we will still have a home to come back to ( I HOPE )
  19. We are from the Phila. Pa area so we do cheesesteaks with fried onions and peppers, If it's a long trip we might even use the same fixins and instead make mountain pies at the campfire. We also do the suace and meatballs and sausage in the crockpot. Smoker- ribs chicken and even a turkey. Deep fries turkey also. Winter time beef stew in a crockpot or chicken & dumplings.
  20. I have seen some folks put a hitch on the front of their tow vehicle so they could push their unit in instead of backing this could be an option just don't know if you would like that. Plus the reciever could bu used to carry bikes also or anything that uses that type of system. Just a thought. I have heard some folks think it's easier to push and watch then try to back up. I think I would lean towards the use of a dolly
  21. Try to look at some of the toy haulers with the garge door on the side, they do not seem to be a sporty as some of the others( they don't look like race trailers). They might not hold as much but I have seen them in both travel trailer and 5th wheel models. Also check some companies have either pop ups or hybirds with a open deck in the front for the toys of course it is unuseable when the front bed is out.
