Overnighter from Maryland to The Fort
psunexus replied to disneylitch......Debbie's topic in Camping To and From the Fort
I'm actually doing the Walmart in walterboro next week on our way to the fort. If I wasn't cheap I was going to pick the new green acres -
I grew up in DE and went to Assateague and Chincoteague a lot as a kid. If you want to see the wild ponies then you want to goto the national seashore park on Assateague. If you looking a place to spend a weekend or even a week then you goto Chincoteague where there are tons of activities to choose from including chartered tours to see the ponies or to even visits to farms where the not so wild ponies grow up. Also if I remember correctly twice a year some of the ponies swim between the islands and then are auctioned off.

Thanks Santa for the backing up advice, I plan to be practicing a lot before the trip down and I'll try your tips. Also thanks to all of you for the site advise. I think I'm going to request to be away from water in the 1400 loop and see what happens, if its full I'll go to to the fall backs that you guys mentioned. I've downloaded the fiends app and watched many videos already so I've been trying to do my homework but sometimes someone else's real world experience is invaluable.

We will be at the fort between Aug 1st - Aug 7 this summer and I need to figure out which loop is best setup for my family. Initially I booked the partial hookups because we were planning to tent camp. Well that all changed last week when I bought a new to me travel trailer. Now I have a 21ft trailer that needs full hookups so I've updated our reservation to a premium site. So my question is what do I request?( I totally get that its not guaranteed but it doesn't hurt to ask) It'll be myself, my wife and our daughter who will be turning 2 when we are there. We plan to do the kiddie pool

Thanks steve, the candle did NOT come with the trailer, I'm pretty sure it was never ever lit and used for decor only. But with that said I take your advice to heart and never plan to have an open flame inside the camper. Also I'll male sure we practice a drill or two. -

Steve thanks for all the suggestions. I was thinking about camping in the driveway first just to get a feel. But before I do that I need to go buy my class 3 hitch and my electric break hook up and then get them installed so I can bring this thing home. I plan to have them installed this week and I hope to bring home the trailer next Saturday. -

So the guy is retiring to FL with his wife and they just don't see away that they can take the trailer along with their two cars and a uhual down in one trip. So they decided to put the trailer up for sale. When I pointed out the damage under the sink he was surprised and proceeded to do the exact test I did early like checking the wall strength and making sure the floor wasn't damaged. He said never had a leak and the wall under the window does looks good so I tend to believe him. We tested the sink and all of the water throughout the trailer. The water pump only came on when I needed water -

Alright guys, you've all basically said everything that I was thinking and what I've read previously. I looked at over a dozen used RVs at camping world in Harrisburg and every single one had damage. I'm actually surprised how bad they for the price they are selling at. One had a big wavy side, another had multiple soft spots on the floor and others had the pop outs cracked or rusted ugh.. So after that I headed to meet a private seller. He has a 2005 Jayco Jay Feather 21J for sale. For the age it seems to be in incredible shape. I did the same check I did at the dealer and it passed with fl -
Hi guys, I've managed to save enough money(I think) to buy my 1st travel trailer. I have about $7,500 saved and I'm looking at hybrids/expandable travel trailers in order to keep the weight down, my tow vehicle only has a gvwr of 5000lbs. At 7,500 I'm obviously looking at something used. Do any of you have some tips for a first time buyer like myself? Are there any brands or models I should stay away from and how old is too old when it comes to buying used. I'm hoping to find something that I can have for the next 5+ years or so. Right now my family is just me, my wife, and 2 year old girl,

Goose, I'm in central pa and this is the exact route I take to goto FL. 81>77>26>95. Its technically a longer route than 95 but I prefer this route instead and it avoids the Washington DC delays. We are headed down in Aug and I plan to drive to the Fort in two days. Day 1 we'll drive all day till we get to 95 and find a place to sleep. The next day well finish the drive to the Fort. On the way back home I plan to detour a little bit and drive some of skyline drive and camp overnight somewhere.
