Generator...
weekender replied to twiceblessed....nacole's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
I cannot speak for this particular unit, but I just did a bunch of research on generators for this exact reason. We wanted a unit to be able to run a refrigerator and freezer if the power went out for longer periods of time. What I found was that the Honda generators are the way to go. They are more expensive, but are very quiet and sip fuel unlike other brands. Look at the inverter type as well which will provide the cleanest power. We bought the Honda 2000i and can add a second unit later if I do not have enough watts. It was more expensive, but gives us the flexibility, reliability a -
You must not live too far from me. I live in Dalton. I was at Camping World the other day and saw the sign and thought that was a unique way to get people into different RV's. You can make your own judgement, but I would be cautious if you decide to purchase from Camping World of Chattanooga. They do not have the best reputation in this area! Unfortunately they are the only ones close that has driveable units. Would look in Knoxville and Atlanta as well if you decide to go that route. If you are looking for a TT or 5th wheel would highly receommend Northgate RV in Ringgold. Also Dunlap

Portable Ice Machine - yes or no ?
weekender replied to Mamma_Eagle's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
I will give you my opinion on this and you know what they say about opinions so take it for what it is worth. We have one of the Dometic portable ice makers, regular size, and in ideal conditions it can make up to 33# of ice per day. In the summer however I know it does not make that much, but enough to keep our drinks in our cooler very cold. We take it with us if we are camping for more than a couple of days as anything shorter we usually have room in our fridge for drinks and other food items. As others have said the ice is not hard frozen like your freezer ice would be, but honestly -
Thanks to Jason we are booked for February at All Star Music! Since we will not be in the room except to sleep it should be a good option for us and cannot wait to see the new food court.

An EGG-cellent Weekend at Stone Mountain
weekender replied to GaDawgFan.....Kelly's topic in Trip Reports
Thanks GDF. By the way I left a message for Jason today as I needed some help with temp control on the BGE, but I figured it out. You really have to close the egg up almost all the way to hold 225! -

Since I have only had my Egg for 1 week I will defer to GDF for more expert opinion, but in my research the BGE can go from 200 - 800 degrees +. No smoker can do this range of cooking in different temp zones. Also you can do low and slow smoking, grilling, baking, pizzas, and much more with the egg. It has a great verstaility and gives the food a wonderful flavor. -

Hopefully they will start to have these at Eggfest as well and we might be able to pick up a demo MiniMax. I am enjoying my demo Large BGE! -
Emailed Jason and he can get the same rate as the late winter pricing for the All Star resorts, but I will book through him. He did tell me about the changes coming to All Star Music food court and that the All Star Sports already has the new food court. With all the talk of food and the Pood Forn pictures that may sway my decision on which resort to book!! Honestly though all are close to the ESPN Sports Complex and we will only be in the rooms to sleep. Will miss my traveling home though. I am glad I joined the Fiends as everyone is so helpful! Thank You.

Wonderful pictures!

Thanks for the wonderful especially those nachos! Also thanks for confirming the rates too. Hopefully Jason can come up with something good for us. It will be hard to be at Disney and not staying at the Fort. Will make for an easier drive however.
-
Thanks to all for the feedback. We can get a rate of $148 at the All Star resort through the gymnastics event. I will contact Jason to see if he is able ot find some other discounts.

We will be at the ESPN Sports Complex in February for a Gymnastics competition and are trying to find a good Disney Resort that will not cost too much money. While we love the Fort I am probably not going to be towing this time since the trip will only be for 4 nights and it is a 10 hour tow for us. Given this information here are my questions: 1. We will be staying at the Fort the week of Thanksgiving and I know in the past you can get a discount on future Disney vacations if you book before you check out. Anyone know what type of discount they might offer? We are looking at Pop Cen

Current Park Opening Procedures
weekender replied to DaveInTN's topic in WDW and Disney Park Discussions
One question on this. Usually the boat to MK does not run to arrive at the park until just before opening. Also it seems that the bus you need that day is never there, but you see the other park buses 3 or 4 times. Any suggestions on how to avoid this issue other than driving to the park? -
Someone cut our power cord
weekender replied to pezheadval's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
How aggrevating. Thieves will steal anything to make a buck instead of working for thier money! I may have to rethink my power cord and change it over to a removeable kind also. -

The demo package they offered was $750 which included the tax. The items in the package were a Large Big Green Egg, Conveggtor (aka platesetter), Nest, 10# of BGE charcoal, ash tool, gripper tool and box of starters. Most dealers would charge at least $1000 or more for this set up. I thought it was a great deal since it was only cooked on during Eggtoberfest and came with a full warranty. If you are ever going to buy on this is the way to do it. Also eggfests (smaller local festivals) usually offer demo eggs as well. -

Kelly it was great to meet you and your family as well. I am glad I joined the Fort Fiends and look forward to all the adventures ahead. I know this will be a fun, great group. Yes I am a planner and have been accused (not officially diagnosed) of having, ADD, OCD and squirrel. Sorry my ADD kicked in there. Anyway I already have our plan for Thanksgiving along with parks and Fast Pass + times! Thanks fo rthe photo tip. I will figure that out when I get a few minutes. -

DaveInTN - Yes I did take advice from a fellow camper who is obsessed with a mouse. The truth is I love the mouse as well, but just have not been a fiend. I know I should be more careful in the future since talking to strangers can lead to bad things, but she seemed nice! I am sure you will never steer me wrong correct? I can already tell by your post that I need to trust no one. Just kidding. As for getting to the park before it opens I too plan our days so I do not have to fight the crowds and wait in line. I can see this will be a fun group to be a part of. -
An EGG-cellent Weekend at Stone Mountain
weekender replied to GaDawgFan.....Kelly's topic in Trip Reports
So now that I have finally joined the Fiends and since everyone is watching (no pressure) I will make my first post. It sort of feels like taking the protective covering off your new smart phone! In my defense I am not sure if I was "recruited" or "forced" to join since GDF called me out in such a public forum as this, but either way it is all good since I have been a lurker here for a while. Of course that is how I found the TR for Topsail since we went there this past summer. As GDF has shared with you we happened to be neighbors this weekend at Stone Mountain Eggtoberfest, but never exp
