Now the question is- do I take the time and risk the bladder with black water? Or do I just pay $25 and we all get long showers and have them dump 4 tanks at once?

I'm cheap and would let the tanks fill up for the $25 pump out but I also don't have Grandma with me to worry about what happens if they are a day late.

I've yet to try anything with chile on it. I'm a sissy when it comes to spicy and I'm afraid what some folks call mild will make my tongue melt.

Hatch are a variety of New Mexico Chile pepper and can vary in the amount of heat. You would likely consider them hot if you are sensitive to heat. Most that I have used are in the range between a Poblano and Jalapeno favoring the hotter end of the spectrum. Some can be as hot as a Serrano pepper. To me they are on the mild side but then again I pickle Serrano Chiles for use on Hot Dogs and in Giardiniera or use Jalapenos  as a condiment.

  3. Prices are a far cry from when you could sit in the bleachers for a few bucks and a hot dog was a buck and a quarter. If we were local I wouldn't have any question about an AP. After all you can use it more than once for continuing memories where a trip to the ball game is a one shot event and with my luck the drunkest fan in the park sitting immediately behind me. Not really a memory I would like to have.

  4. Been following along. It looks like the festival has grown quite a bit since we were there 35 years ago. In fact it wasn't even planned. We were on our way back home from our honeymoon and Rene wanted to stop by and see a relative. The festival just happened to be going on at the same time. The volunteer thing looks like it could be fun. We will have to keep it in mind for a future trip.

    everything covered in green chilli

Yep world famous Hatch Green Chile's. While they weren't from Hatch County, NM during early fall in Colorado I would stop by the roadside green Chile stands where they fire roasted them while you waited. They usually had a 5 lb minimum but not only were the peppers good for chile but also Chile Rellenos and salsas.

Your comment about having to wait for the next bus. All of your visits to the Fort and WDW should have had you well prepared for that eventuality.

A bunch of years ago now, the big recommendation online was to ship a case of water to your resort so you wouldn't have to buy water in the parks.  A short leap from there to "ship all of the things" to your resort - so yeah, it makes sense. And as always, I blame the internetz.  ;)

With the increase in airline baggage fees it can actually be cheaper to ship your stuff and only bring a carry on. Add in the all of the other hassles and TSA checks and it is also more convenient to just drop a box off at your local USPS or UPS Store.

I can't believe that they covered the opening between the floors like that.

I can. With all of the secrecy attempts at previous years events this seems pretty simple.

What the heck were they doing down there that nobody else could see?

Can't let the common folks see how the privileged class lives. After all they might want to live that way too then where would we be?

  7. I don't see how the credit cards could limit it as they have no idea what is being pre-authorized. I know the Kroger I use nearby has a warning on their pump that they pre-authorize and limit credit card purchases to $75. I have had instances where the credit card company rejected the authorization and I had to go inside to present the card. This mostly occurs my first attempted use after entering Florida or occasionally around Washington DC.

So someone that doesn't actually do anything productive or make the country stronger.  They manipulate money so they become rich at other peoples expense.

There were also some shenanigans as to some of the family members but I won't post them here. However your "at other peoples expense" would cover it.

Sounds like my organization.  Don't tell the manager that things are going down the crapper, she has more important things to take care of... like telecoms all day long further tying up her managers so they can't manage either!

I was fortunate that I had old timers for most of my managers. They had no problem with admitting that my company had changed and it wasn't for the better. Like many companies employees became resources, risk taking declined and milking the cash cows became the norm. If customers complained that was ok as long as it was't so much that they went to a competitor.

That's funny. I think we went the first or second week of November. I remember having to buy sweatshirts for us all because I hadn't packed for colder weather. I must not have researched that well that year to know to have warmer clothes.

I think we've decided since this is my boyfriend's first time in Florida period and the kids will still be younger (and whinier) that we're going to rent a condo this year offsite. That way after hot days in the park we can relax in the AC. Then once we have a few local tent camping trips under our belt, we can consider coming back to Disney and tent camping.

Historically we always went down a week or so before Halloween or the second week of November. We have never had cold weather. It has always been high 70's to 80's, with low or high humidity depending upon storm activity. Even on the humid days it has been generally tolerable. Way back when the girls were little we would go when they were out of school in January. The worst we ever saw was low 60's which for the locals might be cool/cold but was very comfortable for us coming from mid-40's to low 50's.

It sounds like a good idea for the first time to stay in condo. You could also take the boats from the MK over to the Fort to get an idea of what it is like. Once there you can take the internal buses, walk or combination of the two to get around. You could also plan a meal at the Hoopty Doo Review, Mickey's Backyard BBQ or Trail's End restaurant for when you are there.
