Not only is the mac and cheese good, it is the only Mac and cheese I have had that tastes good the next day warmed up in the microwave.

We try to eat at TE for our departure meal. We park the truck and trailer in the overflow lot and take the bus back to the Settlement. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for the Mac & Cheese.

What, doesn't the author like the smell of combustion engines. I guess they've never been to a real racetrack. I also remember when rush hour in most cities had that same smell of exhaust fumes mixed with hot oil and asbestos brake dust. Next thing they'll say we should give up walking up hill both ways in snow storm.

Just to throw this out there. The STOL dirt stock pile will be 15 acres in size and 18' high, with plans for future dirt storage to the north of that.

That is a lot of dirt. 454,000 cubic yards.

That is the size of RC 18' high. Can we say new park in the future or a lot of wetland to be filled in.

  4. My wife and I did the Grand Avenue tour some years back when my folks still lived in Bardstown. We've been trying to plan a trip back to the area to do the lantern tour and were wondering about improved campgrounds. Cost isn't so much an issue as cleanliness when we are traveling so will keep the Jellystone in mind. We figure a couple of days at Mammoth and another at the state park campground in Bardstown to do a bit of the Bourbon Trail should make for a nice week long trip.

Awesome!  I didn't realize they had added a writing desk complete with typewriter at the Settlement.  I'll be sure to pack my pipe the next time I visit, and I'll write the next great American novel.

With all the females hormones hanging around your place I'd expect something more along the lines of a Harlequin romance novel.

Ugh... just found out last night, that the merger (Tom's bank was sold) is moving along quickly and things should close by July.  The new company will enforce their vacation time policy, which means we believe Tom will loose 7 days/year of vacation time (:().   Praying this isn't the case (bigger prayer, is that they don't mess with his pay!)...but we are trying to prepare.  If this happens, we will miss you as he will leave Wednesday night (11/7) and the kids and I will pull out on Saturday (which really stinks as he'll have Monday off for Veteran's Day...but we need to make up the 2 days).  Another option is to have him fly in later, but that means I need to park our rig at the Fort... by myself.  The spots can be so tight; I just don't feel comfortable even trying.  She's a big girl :(

    I don't know.... we'll see what happens.

Where's your confidence? You just towed that thing thousands of miles with the kids and survived a major mechanical failure. If you can handle that backing in is a piece of cake. You could also let us use the site for two nights and then all come down together.

We had reservations at Mythos, which bills itself as the best restaurant inside a theme park. I was interested in that claim since I believe Tiffins is by far the best.

The inside and outside of the restaurant are really cool. You’re eating in a made cave.

It was decent, not outstanding. I know it’s not fair to compare to Tiffins, a signature restaurant, but I’m not sure why they’re #1.

Rene an I felt the same way. The food was average at best and the service we had was poor. I can't remember the name but we liked the Irish Pub that is in the other park better. While it wasn't anything fancy but the food was prepared well, with better service and a more reasonable price.

On the way back to the Fort we stopped at Twin Peaks which is on Winter Garden Vineland road almost to S Apopka Vineland rd next door to the Ale House. We were going to go to the Ale house but it was packed (lunch time) so we decided to give Twin Peaks a try. Now I knew enough to know it was something along the lines of a Hooters "Twin Peaks" but other than that knew nothing about the restaurant or what they served. This place had excellent food, I didn't try the wings but had a perfectly cooked piece of salmon. They have scratch kitchen so every is made from scratch per your order want light breading or extra on your fried pickles they'll do it. Not a huge menu, mostly burgers and such, but definitely good. Their claim to fame so to speak is 29° drafts and there's a digital sign on the wall tell you what the temperature of the beer coming out of the tap is. I wasn't in a beer drinking mood at the time so didn't really look to see what they had, I know they had 3 house brews the Dirty Blonde, Knotty Brunette, and Dropdead redhead. Now the one downside to this place was it was loud, music and I'm sure when it's full people wise as well. Overall great food, not horrible prices and a good atmosphere if not a little loud. They also offer covered patio dining and a firepit area.

After stuffing ourselves it was time to head back to the Fort for a nap.

We ate at one in Winston-Salem one afternoon when we were out and around. We did like the food and the beer was decent as well. Not sure I would go to the one we visited with children. There was snow on the ground and I told the wife we should have brought a couple of extra coats for the waitress as I couldn't believe they had them dressed (undressed more like) like that when it was below freezing.

How do the lockers work? Are you not allowed to take anything on?

You end up inverted when flying around Hogwarts there is also turbulence on that and Gringotts ride so they don't want anything loose in pockets including change. I was wearing cargo pants with velcro pockets and kept my phone and wallet in those. Everything else like keys, hats and change went into a locker. They way they work is you go to the display where you are lead through the process and assigned a locker. The used a finger print for the key.

So the train is a real train but has screens instead of windows?

Yes. The inside windows that face the hallway are frosted as well. Animations appear on them during the ride and are different based on which direction you are traveling. It's done well IMO not to mention it has about 4 minutes of good air conditioning.
