Hard to believe you only get an hour and 15 minutes to ride stuff.

Also, who in their right mind would eat breakfast before 9am?  If you do, you are taking up a good chunk of the limited attraction time.  Why not start it earlier, and provide access to attractions from 7:00-9:00, and do breakfast from 8-10?  As it is, I'd have a really hard time justifying $79 for 75 minutes of rides and a basic breakfast.

Since it covers breakfast why not open at 6AM for breakfast with the rides starting at 7AM?

While I'm sure there will be plenty who will pay the price it needs to be about half so it reflects a slight premium for morning Extra Magic Hours with an included breakfast.

increased capacity has resulted in excess crowding leading to high levels of guest dissatisfaction.

I'd sure like to have some of whatever they're smoking. I fixed it for them.

"It appears that in order to price and purchase your tickets, you must select the exact date which you will first be visiting the parks. There is a calendar which will show you per-day pricing allowing you to select the most affordable day to begin your visit. For those who are not planning on selecting their park days, for an additional fee, you can select a “flexible” park ticket which allows you to visit on any day. At this time the flexible park ticket option appears to be $50 per person."

Of course the option that fits the way we go to the parks would become an add-on option increasing our cost. We have no idea when we buy our tickets which park we will be visiting on what day until we are there. With Disney tending to add extra cost events or changing extra magic hours over the months it is hard to know what days have the longest access until right before your trip. I can only surmise this is punishment for Rene and I not attending Disney's dessert parties.

He was really cool when we were there. He did some cool tricks for the kids and talked with us for a little bit. We were at the Edison around 4pm and it was pretty dead so I think we got a little extra attention.

One thing if you dont know, they will tack on an entertainment fee on your check. Wd didnt know that until the bill came. Was a noce surprise they snuck in there.

I wonder if it is because Ben stopped at your table?

    That is brilliant!

I've had some "stupid Google" moments trying to navigate through Boston.  Boston is a ridiculous city to get around anyway - lots of alleyways and narrow one way streets and just generally a mess.  Then there are streets that just end, with the rest of the street being on the other side of the expressway. Apparently someone forgot to give Google that little update and "stupid Google" has had me trying to "continue" on a street that doesn't go anywhere more than once.

As an adult I came to appreciate what my dad went through driving in Boston. More than once he managed to get going the wrong way on a one way street and I would tease him about it. While I never did end up going the wrong way more than once the haphazard one way layouts took me back to the freeway or Chelsea (our target was the parking lot under Boston Commons). The funny part is I actually remembered having been on some of those same dead ends as a kid.

As to Google there was an article a while back where Google took a woman in London into the Thames River due to the road it told her to take not having a bridge. Yes you have to question the woman's smarts as well but Google should have know better.

  5. Instead of keeping kids interacting with the world around them let's give them another way to bury themselves in their phones. All while collecting more data from them. I wonder how long it will be before Disney will create a 3D ride app and WDW branded VR phone holders? For the cost daily admission just strap the thing on and you are immersed in the ride with no lines.

  6. All I can say is they lost me when the author said Disney closed the bar early. I don't drink coffee and water just doesn't cut it. I mean why can't I get a Dole Whip with a splash of rum? All that money and Disney cheaps out.

If you wish to sample weird stuff like Sea Urchin foam just go to any restaurant in San Francisco's China Town. While I can't guarantee the Sea Urchin, or any urchins for that matter, I know Sea Cucumber can be served in the second course of a seven course meal. It won't run you $15K either.

  7. I hate it when someone tries to guide me in. The only thing I want is a spotter on the blind side to be sure I don't hit anything. If I need a fresh perspective I will get out to look and no amount of someone flailing their arms will stop that. Thankfully Rene does a good job on the spotting part. She is also good at telling the park employees thanks for showing us the site and we'll take it from here.

he shop that installed our tires, is going to rotate and balance them on Monday.  They charge $50/axle to repack the bearings.  I figured I'd go this way, this time... simply so I can have the benefit of watching what they do.  This way I'll now at least a little more, than I do right now.  LOL

$50 is a lot better than $70. Any competent mechanic should be able to repack the bearings as the procedure is pretty much the same on any axle whether a trailer or vehicle. The same goes for the drum brakes.

  9. $70 per wheel sounds reasonable to me. The bearings are what carry the load of the trailer on the wheel axle. As the grease ages it can harden and not lubricate as it should or if it has been overheated relocated away from the axle. That means more friction and more wear of the bearing and/or spindle. You might get lucky and have some forewarning such as abnormal tire wear, grinding noise, etc but are more likely to have no warning other than the failure of the parts. Imdown gave the basic procedure. It isn't overly complicated but it one of the dirtier jobs as you are dealing with grease and laying on the ground under the trailer if you need to adjust the brakes. Torquing the wheel axle nut takes a bit on knowledge on how the parts should feel once properly torqued. You also need to take care not to get grease on the brake shoes or dirt on the bearings/axles.

We were at Fort Wilderness the last week in July and first three weeks in August.  The first 3 weeks we were in site 1318 and the WiFi was terrible.  Very low signal strength.  The laptop connection was usually OK, but the iPhones and Fire TV kept dropping the connection.  We moved to the 1200 loop for our last week because they closed the 1300 for tree trimming.  The WiFi signal here was a lot better with speeds generally around 5 mbps.

1318 is our favorite site. I'm surprised the service was bad there. They were still installing the WiF network the last time we were in it and I recall the pole being across the road about 15 ft in. I wonder if it was interference from the Meadows? I use to attach to it back in the days when the loops were hardwired.

That was my experience a couple of years ago too. General work email, Webex meetings, no issues, working with large files live on SharePoint, my Verizon MiFi did a better job. This was in 1700 loop. Just as practice though, when I'm working remotely on a wireless network, I generally just check out the file, download it to my hard drive, work it, then upload when done. Lots less bandwith required than saving to the server every few minutes.

I always down loaded source code files I was working on even when on the high speed office network. It allowed me  to work on them offline during off hours and not be disturbed for dumb stuff by management who saw I was logged in.

We actually have never eaten there either.  My personal concern with this is the impact to Territory Lounge, as we did enjoy that.  I've made AP reservations over the years for a date night, but we always ended up canceling, primarily as the menu didn't really appeal to us, and we are more "drinks and appetizers" people rather than sit down meal/bottle of wine people.

This exactly!  Nothing says "deluxe" like a dwarf named Dopey flooping around your dinner table while you try to enjoy your $50 entree.  😎

Ditto.  Only time we ever ate at Artist Point was back in the days when the dining plan included the appetizer and gratuity.

But we have enjoyed Territory Lounge a bunch over the years and this is probably going to pack it full of people hanging around waiting for their photo ops. (sigh)

We really like the Territory Lounge as well for a quick bite and drink. I don't see how the change won't have an impact on it.

Was in lot 1417 in March.  Wi-Fi was better than nothing. Occasional drops and throughput lags made roku use difficult.  Did some work via corporate vpn. Was OK, as long as you're not downloading large data sets or video calls.

I also noticed streaming wasn't very good on our last trip. We were in the 1400 loop as well near the NW corner. It was fine for web browsing and e-mail and if I was still working I could have done everything I needed to over the Fort's WiFi. In comparison to other campgrounds I've stayed at I would say it was better than most.

What about all the plastic baggies used to cover the candy apples and rice crispy treats on a stick. Maybe wax paper is in the near future for that application.

What's interesting, is that there is no ban or up-sell on shopping bags at the Parks or Character Warehouses.

I went to one of the warehouses, and they were going to give me a bag to carry the lanyard I purchased.  I told them I would put it in my daughters bag.

And most of the bags at the warehouse shops are big and bigger.  I never was given any of the real small bags you sometimes see in the parks.

Come on we all know plastic straws are the gateway to hardcore plastics like grocery bags and blister packs.

Agreed. It's tough when real life technology flies past the "this is what the future might look like" stuff in attractions.

    See "Carousel of Progress"  🙂

(BTW I had the ski boots the daughter is wearing in the last scene in 1983.)

Yeah whoever would have thought the Carousel would be a historic ride back when it was created.
