  1. It's okay to be crazy, just don't let it drive you nuts. Welcome! Am new 'round here myself and looking forward to meeting some of the "characters" in person during my family's first foray into the Fort (October). Lots of helpful advice is available to you. Just ask! This bunch seems to either know it all or know someone who does. :)
  2. These pictures are too sweet! The grin on the little man's face! Love it! Thanks for sharing! Just adorable!
  3. Flattened soda bottles for Pluto's ears?! That's brilliant! Love the creative materials thinking! These are wonderful lamps. They'll be the hit of your Loop!
  4. Super cute! I love when groups all match! It could just be my OCD kicking in, but I like to think it's because I recognize the 'group spirit" of dressing everyone alike. My husband says it's just 'cause I'm weird.
  5. Fabulous! My son and I are all gung-ho to find and retrofit an older unit. Husband is less than gung-ho...like, not even a little-ho. Oh, but the dreams! Hope y'all have a wonderful time!
  6. Holy cow, what a scary story! I have never even heard of having a surge protector for the camper. Y'all can bet I'm ordering one now and will not be heading out for our 4th of July trip without triple checking the fire extinguishers. Thanks for this warning!
  7. Looking forward to another Jolly Holiday!

  8. Okay, thanks, y'all! (Also, sorry about hijacking "Harambe Nights" and interrupting rants!) What y'all describe about popping into a Park "just because" and finding a few days here and there to go to Disney are exactly what I was thinking in looking at APs. It isn't as if I need a Reason to drive down, just an excuse. :) Thanks again!
  9. You've convinced me. Anyone have a favorite RV supplies supplier?
  10. Hi, Judy! My crowd loves the entire show, always has, so hopefully there won't be too many changes in the new space. But you're right, "TLST" (my youngest calls it that lion song) is the best part! I usually end up randomly singing the song the rest of the day! Laurel
  11. Avatar-Land. Wow. That idea just reeks! Something like that would completely change the tone at AK. Makes me sad. But as mentioned before, I don't suppose we get a vote, other than not frequenting the attractions once opened. Bummer.
  12. New around here and have been reading up on the threads. Am getting the feeling y'all are not too thrilled with the Annual Passholders deal. My family has recently inherited a nice camper which makes our jaunts to Disney a more frequent possibility, cost-wise. I've been looking into APs for just this purpose. I understand that many times, Disney's special offers are not available to APs, and I'm gathering from this conversation that the "perks" available to APs are overpriced and/or not worth it. Advise me? Is purchasing Annual Passes not all it's cracked up to be? Thanks for your
  13. I have a list of the necessary parts. Was it very difficult? I think I'm reasonably handy but I don't do electric stuff. Really hoping my fourteen year old and I can figure it out. I love the look of the Mickey lamps! So cute! Okay, so this may be the corniest thing ever, but I am making headlamps for my younger campers. Dewalt has these useful battery lights on a headband. I've been experimenting with adding ears to headbands, made from glow sticks that are easily replaceable. My husband thinks I've lost my mind. I have Disney-it is something fierce these days! P.S. Your pup is a
  14. Hello, and thank you! That is precisely what I was thinking, trying to plan everything out. (Not entirely sure how I ended up Julie, Cruise Director, but I'm trying to "own" the position.) I want everyone to have time to just flake out and roam around while enjoying the Disney magic. Not to be morbid, but this will likely be the last big trip with my mom and I don't want to miss a minute, rushing around. I am hoping to keep our pace slow enough to savor every moment. The campfire with Chip 'n Dale is one thing I am most looking forward to! I've been one other time, when I was seven.
  15. Hello! Thanks so much for the welcome! Yup, we'll definitely have multiple vehicles. And multiple bikes, and multiple coolers, and multiple...you get the idea. :) So parking will be an issue, no doubt. Is there an overflow sort of lot where we could park the "extra" cars for the week? Internal buses?! Oh, this is wonderful to hear! That will definitely make getting all of us and the gear out and about! Thanks for sharing!
  16. So don't wait until the last possible minute to extend tickets?
  17. I hadn't thought of adding PH after the fact. That's a terrific suggestions, especially since my niece and her family (5 year old and infant) are First Timers. One park a day may be absolutely all they can do. Maybe I should just plan on NOT buying PH and plan a touch more carefully for park-going. Thank you for the tip!
  18. This is weird. My husband and I were JUST discussing the very same thing this weekend. Our camper/travel trailer is "inherited" and is showing a bit of wear. It wasn't stored covered. I think we should purchase a tarp/cover to protect it a bit but DH wants to go whole-hog and have a canopy/carport installed for the camper to help insure longevity. !! Is it worth the cost to purchase a "camper cover" designed for that specific purchase or is it okay to use a huge tarp and just keep it well ventilated? I'd love to know what you decided to do!
  19. That is such good advice, thank you! I am hoping to "force" us to relax a bit, by only purchasing Park Hoppers for half the time we are staying. I'm a little worried I'll regret the decision, but there does seem to be so much not-theme-park stuff to do and see. Thanks for the welcome!
  20. Hello, Neighbors! I'm in Stockbridge. We were just at the Lasershow this past Saturday. Love the Stone Mountain area! This linking you speak of, this is done when the reservations are actually made, yes? Also, 6 seater golf carts...Brilliant! I am on a quest for one of these now. :)
  21. Hello, Gwen! Cypress droppings, hmm, that does sound problematic for my Golden. She isn't silky-furred but does have a very long outer coat. She brings "yard" into the house coming in from outside. Definitely crossing 1900 off the list. :) The other dog is a Shar-Pei and more cat than dog, so no worries there. Walker is the company I'm using! Yay! You have reassured me it was the right choice. Thank you!
  22. Thank you all for the welcome and info! I hadn't even thought about the "gear" required for the babies. (Can you tell my kids are the teenagers?) The five year old will most likely be carried around everywhere by the older kids. She's tiny and my kids love hauling her up on their shoulders, so no stroller for her, but both babies will have a stroller and bag each, no doubt. And my sister over-packs in the worst kind of way, so her kid's bag will be HUGE. Our golf cart will be full really quick, won't it? Better look into renting at least one more. Better to use outside company or ris
  23. Wow! I'm new to this site but I've already learned so much! A monorail station AND a turkey leg stand are being built at Fort Wilderness! So exciting! Y'all are hilarious!
  24. Hello All! I am so relieved and happy to have found this site! What a lively bunch y'all are! My family (eight adults, four teenagers, a five year old and two infants) is camping at Fort Wilderness for the First Time Ever, October 3-11. Most of us are experienced campers but not knowing the ins and outs at Fort Wilderness is making me anxious. (I might have some control issues.) I am flailing about in all the information available and hope some of you veterans can sort me out. My main question is about golf carts and mobility scooters. My mom is a cancer patient and oughtn't wear her
